GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina prosecutor says the police officers who shot and killed the suspect in five killings in South Carolina will not face any charges.
Gaston County District Attorney Locke Bell said Friday the three officers had no choice but to fire on 41-year-old Patrick Burris after he shot one of them when they confronted him in a home on July 6. Bell says their training and quick action likely prevented more deaths.
Authorities say Burris was a habitual felon who shot five people to death in a 10-mile area of Gaffney, S.C., in the span of six days in June and July. A gun found with the suspect linked him to the slayings.
The officers were investigating a burglary complaint at a vacant home about 30 miles away in Gastonia when they found Burris.

The local news is saying that during the exchange of gunfire one of the police officers actually fired a round into the barrell of burris's gun. They are just now clearing the officers in the shooting. wonder why it took 3 months.

Dot i's, cross t's.
No one wants Burris' mama to come back a year later for shooting her son, "who never hurt a fly".

Kinda unusual shooting into a barrell. It makes you think the perp might have been pointing his weapon at the officer. I've heard of one sniper shooting another through the scope but never this.
