Default Surgery is over

Hello folks,
Well my foot surgery I mentioned last week went well. Only time will tell if it will be the cure to my persistant foot pain. The doctor said I would be numb and would not feel any pain for 4-6 hours after the surgery. The first thing I said when I woke up was, why does my foot hurt? The doctor looked at me like I have a phallic symbol growing out of my head. They gave me a couple of shots of something that didn't do anything that I could tell and then discharged me. Last night the doctor called to check on me and said he couldn't believe it when I said my foot hurt. He said he put enough numbing juice in my foot to numb up one side of a horse. I guess I should have told him that I'm not easily affected by local numbing agents. I had a root canal and the doctor shot my mouth up with 7 shots to numb it up and I could still feel the pain as soon as she touched the nerve. She finally just put the needle right in the nerve which made me flop in the chair for a bit but did the job. So, here I sit in my recovery area for the next 6 weeks. It's hard to see, but I have a recliner in front of the desk and a dual monitor setup with one on this forum and one on a free online game i play occasionally. I was shopping for a bell so I could get my bride to come wait on me. She threatened to beat me about the head and shoulders if I brought home a bell. She is doing a good job of taking care of me so far, but i can crutch around the house if I need to. I have vicoden for pain, but I'm not in that much pain so I'll prolly just take it at night with a beer to go to sleep. It doesn't do much for me though. I took one last night and didn't get any releif. I think I'm just immune to pain releivers.

Take care,
Bill

Hey Bill, Hope you feel better. Tell the wife to not beat you about the head and especially not to hit you with your Shooboy Hammer as I don't want you hurting your hammer !!! Shoo

I feel your pain. Out of work for six weeks due to shoulder surgery on 10/2.

Pain killers don't ever get rid of the pain. Just make me feel a little less concerned with it. Beer does help.

The bigger adjustment is being with my wonderful wife (in case she reads this) all of the time. Being drugged helps. Just kidding. I'm sure (because she said so) that she feels the same way.

Best of luck to you.

Good luck Bill on your recovery. My feet hurt as I type this post ...and it is Plantar!! I get off work in 20 mins and will have to walk right past the gym where all my friends will be pairing up for pickup basketball. I have not been able to participate in over two weeks. I do not want to go through what you just did. I am going to try to stay off my feet a bit more but the lack of exercise is killing me.
P.S. Thanks for that visual of a Phallic symbol jutting out of your forehead.

Now you will have ample time to surf the net and S&W shop.

Roger

Good luck on a full recovery, Bill. My recommendation for comfort during this trying period is a couple of good shots of Kentucky bourbon. You won't feel any better, but you won't care, either!

John

John,
I think I'll have a glass of Souther Comfort tonight for desert.

I find that a good bourbon goes well with the piquant taste of hydrocodone. I heard that if you sniff it up the nose the effect is more immediate. Thing is, sniffing Evan Williams makes me sneeze.

Hope your recovery goes well.

Hey Bill:

Best wishes for a full, speedy recovery. If your wife is like mine, she is also hoping for a speedy recovery.

Frank

Stay positive. There are many natural analgesics.

I take 2 650mg tylenol arthritis midnight and noon. 2 or 3 200mg adcil 6 and 6. Over the counter.

Default Foot pain

Bill, thanks for keeping us up to date on the surgery, as you can see from the replies, you have many folks pulling for your full recovery. Hey, do what the DOC says he could be right. Those two "Bottle" Pain Relievers and Muscle Relaxers mentioned in the above posts will not contribute much to actually reliving pain but you won't care. Oh yea, be kind to your care giver and get well!
