The Green Hornet is Back
The Green Hornet (2010)
I worked second unit (stunts, no main actors) on it last night but they didn't get to my scene as they were behind schedule...I play a DUI suspect and after my arrest, we start chasing the Black Beauty...after we crash, I stagger away from the wreck...hopefully, we will get to it tonight... BTW, they have about 15 64 Chryslers outfitted for different scenes...apparently, they bought every one they could find in the US....

Tell someone out there to remake "Bullitt", Sip, and use Daniel Craig for Steve McQueen's role as the title character! I'd love to see that made again.

Why. What was wrong with the original?(no offense)
Oh No, I feel a rant coming on
Why does Hollywood or wherever have to produce remakes of already wonderful, classic movies. Can't they come up with anything original?
Not too many turn out better than the original, maybe a few here and there.

A lot of times they get it wrong...but sometimes they get it right....a fresh actor with a new take and some new technology can make a classic movie fun and introduce it to a whole new generation....sadly, this generation doesn't even know or care who Steve McQueen is...

No, I ain't gonna rant. I just think it would be neat to see a GOOD remake of a classic movie such as that. I realize some can't be done, but Craig sure bears more than a passing resemblance to McQueen to me. He also seems to have the demeanor as well, from what I've seen in his two Bond films.

As you are in the business, what movie remakes do you like or think were done well? Just curious .
The only one I can think of right now is The Fly with Jeff Goldblum. I found that much scarier then Vincent Price, but as you say maybe it was the technology.

At least for the time being(?) the Charger and Mustang are still being produced. The actor being discussed sure sounds like a better choice than Brad Pitt or George Clooney? How would you ever get permitted by San Francisco to burn that much fossil fuel within their nuclear free zone peoples paradise though?
I doubt the flik would have the same impact with black and green Prius chasing each other around town though? Besides, some of those hard landings might make the batteries pop out of one of them!

If The Green Hornet is played straight it should be enjoyable. I faithfully watched the 1966 series with Van Williams and Bruce Lee, there were two serials produced by Universal in 1940 and 1941, they are well done, remember they were fairly low budget and somewhat period pieces. I saw a still from one of them, I noted the Green Hornet's gas gun was based on a Broomhandle Mauser.

I'm wondering how you could do The Green Hornet without Bruce Lee?????
Someone else as Kato
next thing you know we'll be seeing "Vin Diesel" as Rooster Cogburn.

The Magnificent Seven....don't forget it was a remake of the classic 54' Japanese film, Seven Samurai....and A fistful of Dollars was taken from another Jap film, “Yojimbo” by Kurosawa...same director as Seven Samurai....
and don't get mad, but True Lies was taken from a 91 French film, La Totale......
gotta go to work now but I will try to think of some more tomorrow....

Some argue that "Forbidden Planet" is based heavily on Shakespeare's "The Tempest".
In the Green Hornet serials Kato was played by Keye Luke. He was portrayed as the mechanical genius who built Black Beauty.

From Wikipedia:
Kato is a fictional character from The Green Hornet series. This character has also appeared with the Green Hornet in film, television, book and comic book versions. Kato was the Hornet's assistant and has been played by a number of actors. On radio, Kato was initially played by Raymond Hayashi, then Roland Parker who had the role for most of the run, and in the later years Mickey Tolan. [1] Keye Luke took the role in the movie serials, and in the television series he was portrayed by Bruce Lee.
Bruce is the only Kato I remember. Maybe Jet Li could do him justice.

1. The popular version is that Kato was a Japanese who became a Filipino on December 8, 1941. IIRC in "The Green Hornet" serial of 1940 Kato says he is Korean.
2. The Lone Ranger-his first name is a matter of dispute.

(BTW: That's an Imperial, not a Chrysler)
But that's why my Wife refuses to watch movies with me, too?

Is the Imperial not a Chrysler? Chrysler Imperial - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ah, but is was at one time. Good eye Spot!
1955-1975 / 1981-1983: No longer a Chrysler
In 1955 Chrysler spun off the Imperial as its own separate marque in an attempt to compete directly with the Cadillac and Lincoln luxury marques offered by General Motors and Ford, respectively.
Imperial sales during this period were generally about 10% of the numbers that Cadillac was posting.
Imperial as a marque was always sold in Chrysler dealerships and never in distinct Imperial dealerships (which were never set up), so the nameplate failed to separate itself as its own marque as a consequence. See the1955-1975 / 1981-1983: No longer a Chrysler

Dead give away was always the trunk,
File:1966ChryslerImperialRear.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's where the "LeBaron" (later sold under the Chrysler logo) name came from (BTW the LeBaron was just a Dodge Diplomat). It (LeBaron) was one of three levels of Imperial option packages. Another was the "Crown", and for the life of me I can't recall the third? They did as Buick of the era had done, 3 option levels, LeSabre, Invicta, Electra.
Thanks very much for that link!
Sip, you had the chance to get slammed by one of the most under rated luxury cars! Hows your neck? There's a couple of lawyers on the Forum!

Steve McQueen was and always will be Josh Randall, star of "Wanted Dead or Alive". As a kid I had that sawed off Winchester that he carried like a pistol.
Just like Clint Eastwood will always be Rowdy Yates from Rawhide, long before he was dirty Harry.
Both great late 50's westerns.

I loved the Green Hornet as a kid, but I hate revisionist remakes. Don't tell me - Brent is now a homosexual ex-special forces operative distraught over all the violence that he was forced to do under orders in Iraq and Mogadishu and tries to make up for it by providing volunteer security at alternate life style art galleries and self-store units for transgender clients. Kato is now a misunderstood, female Gurkha commando from the Libyan presidential guard on loan to the Green Hornet in a foreign exchange program. And the car is now run on solar power and electric batteries and pegs the speedometer at 40 mph down hill. Good luck with the shoot, Sip.
