Default Happy, happy, fairy tale

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?' The girl said, 'NO!' And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf a lot and drank beer and scotch and had money in the bank and left the toilet seat up.

The end

Truth, just the unalduterated truth! About ten or twelve years ago, I had a house on a golf course in Scottsdale. I was in the pool one Saturday afternoon when I noticed a friend of mine who ran the pilot shop at Scottsdale Airport, where I bought most of my pilot and aircraft supplies, was teeing up, along with his wife. We waved, and he seemed a bit surprised to see me. On the following Monday, I was at the airport and went in to buy some charts or smoething, and he said "You're single, aren't you?" I replied in the affirmative. He said something to the effect that he was sure of it, because a wife would never let a man park sport cars under the rear patio, and now he knew how I could afford my airplane.

To bad I didn't stay single. Got divorced in '83. Gave the ex the house (there wasn't much equity in it). She re married a nice but dumb guy. She was a looker but was not smart enough to come in out of the rain. Between the two of them they lost the house to foreclosure in two years. At that point my son and only child was 12. I drove over and picked him up and raised him till he moved out at 22. My son is now 34 and raising his own son on his own as he never read the happy fairy tale either.
