What You Should Know About Nescafe Coffee
I was a trifle miffed when I found ONLY Spanish language Nescafe coffee on my grocer's shelves a few weeks ago. I can read the label, but am offended that English -labeled coffee wasn't on the shelves.
I was further irked that I couldn't find their better grade stuff, Taster's Choice, except in the dark roast grade.
So, I called Nescafe and vented a little. The lady on the phone, pressed with specific questions, told me this:
The new containers of "normal" roast Taster's Choice now look just like those for the darker roast. You have to look for the little indicator needle on the label to tell the difference. These containers are now in stores. Just read the labels very carefully to distinguish them. The needle will show a light/medium roast for the normal roast.
"Classico" is not the same as Classic with English labels. It is blended especially for the Mexican market. "Classico Suave" is again different; it is a milder, smoother blend.
The jar that I have open now is Classico Suave. It is good; I like it. But I bought a container of Taster's Choice in normal roast as soon as I found it.
Taster's Choice has more Caffea arabica beans in the blend, being their best coffee.
I thought that inquiring minds might want to know. Maybe this will save you from buying a darker roast than you expected. But it still galls me that the grocer put the Spanish-labled coffee on the "normal" coffee aisle, not in the ethnic aisle only, where I have no real problem with it, although I think that those living here should learn English.

Having traveled the world in the US Air Force, I found it somewhat comforting to find American products with English labeling in foreign stores.

I hear you. I looked for familiar brands in Canada. But Nestle is actually a Swiss company. I'm sure that they have a variety of labels in several languages.
If I was buying it in say, Germany, I'd expect German labels. In Brazil, Portugeuse ones, etc.
But specialty grocery areas in a store make sense, where many shoppers have particular dietary desires not met by the general grocery displays. We do have ethnic food aisles in most grocers here.

To make things worse, Labatts recently has been packaging their beers in 11.5 oz bottles in stead of the 12 ouncers.
I feel that the end is near.

I drink tea for breakfast. Lipton's hasn't gone to Spanish labels yet, although some time ago they did take off their label a picture of Sir Thomas, in his sailor hat, lifting a cup fo their brew. Too bad, he was a gallant gentleman.

Who was he, really? But Lipton tea seems not to be all that it might. I drink the Twining's brand, in business since 1706,

Spanish labelling wouldn't work up here; it would have to be in Polish or Russian.
But the real issue is... instant coffee???
Well, at least you're not drinking Postum.

Thank you I'd rather drink hot tea than instant coffee. And as for Postum....I remember that when I was a boy. My grandfather used to drink it (he was originally from Minnesota). I don't think I've ever seen it down here.

Coming to an aisle near you, next to AXE fragrance body wash and sprays, a new, rich blend of beans.
Rico Suave Caliente!
Now, Matador kewl breeze, who was just fending off chiquitas until the wee hours, must stand en guarde while enjoying the morning paper as the rich, swarthy scent of, Rico Suave Caliente wafts through the crisp morning air permeated with machismo grande.
Chica beware, el tigre lurks ready to pounce in every sip of Rico Suave Caliente.
Muy calienta?
Si, mucho!
Rico Suave Caliente: Squeeze the bean bueno to the last drop!
It's been almost twenty years since el suave.

Classico is darn good coffee, and I like it better than Taster's Choice.
