Default GunsAmerica

What's the protocol with this site? I understand auctions where you can place a bid on an item, but is GunsAmerica just the classifieds section? Can you offer lower prices, or is it a waste of time doing so?

So far I've asked three questions of three separate sellers and received only one automated response telling me to call them, which I damn sure will not. I understand all sellers have only the highest quality items, but the price discrepancies are amazing from one to the next.

I think it's hit or miss. I've made some offers on a few things and was either told it was no longer for sale, or got no response at all. There's not nearly the policing of things like on Gunbroker or Auction Arms. Not exactly my favorite place to do business.

I pretty well quit going there after 3 bad experiences in a row. They are supposed to be "The Gun Classified Site" but they are horrible in policing their site. Examples:

1. Spotted a rifle been wanting for awhile, price was right, called and spoke to someone who passed me to someone else who informed me the rifle was sold and had been put in Layaway. Okay, I notify GA the gun is sold and go on. Two months later, the rifle is still on the site, I call again and am told the gun is now available but the price is $100 more than was listed.

2. Similar to 1, called and told gun was not available, already sold out of brick and mortar gun shop. 6 months later, gun is still in GA for sale but listed price is now higher.

3. Really wanted to buy a Parker Hale 1200 in .308 Norma Mag, called on an ad but after 12 calls with no answer I almost gave up. Then, I got an answer but the gun was sold.

Total waste of my time, have other things to do.

I've never used GA, not even for price comparisons. Hell, I can't even find anything using their search function.

I used Guns America frequently a few years ago I was ripped off by one of their so called Gold sellers they GA blew me off very long story! I switched to Gun Broker and once I got used to it found it light years ahead of GA.

Just ask the seller a simple question: is this gun still for sale.

I emailed 3 sellers asking that last year... still haven't got a reply back.

Most the prices are downright silly.

I got burned by a dealer on GA. that misrepresented the condition of a gun. It will be hard for me to buy through them again.

Default Guns America

If you think Guns America is a joke ( and it is) try Guns International. Add 50% to anything you see priced on this forum and you'll be close. Basically a Cabela's site. Called recently on a 25-5 that was priced at nearly a grand and made an offer, the guy actually told me, his own words, " I'm extremely disappointed you would even think to make an offer ", the offer was for more than I've seen them sold for on this forum.

Guns America and Guns International are nothing but a complete waste of time, IMHO

Just like you said just your opinion! In which you are entitled to! but i must disagree with you, at least what you say about guns international i have bought and sold a lot on both sites and do agree that GA has gone down hill in recent years, but i have had no problems on guns international at all. Cabelas does list a lot on there, and i agree that they are usually over priced but there are plenty of good deals to be had on GI. Just my 2cents. Bob K.

Default Non-respondents on GA

RM:
We do quite a bit on GA, and it takes two of us to answer the messages. We always try to get to them within 24 hours, sometimes they pile up 100 messages by Sunday Night on weekends. Most of the questions are helpful, and some of the folks help us correct mistakes and so forth. I can't speak for my friendly competitors on there, though; I've heard similar stories from yours from our local friends here in Tenn.
I guess, when I was teaching, I got in on where the Dept. Chair royally ate some of my colleagues' lunches, so we always try to avoid that.

"received only one automated response telling me to call them, which I damn sure will not."

While it really wouldn't take them but a minute to send you an email,if you're not willing to make a call, you couldn't have been too interested.
Personally, I'm willing to pay their price or I'm not,and I hate the dickering of selling guns. When I price my own stuff,I price it fairly at the lowest I would consider, what I would pay if I was shopping for the same.I'm not desperate for the money and I don't have junk,so it doesn't matter if it sells or not.
I do understand what you're saying though. At the moment, I have an unanswered email out to a dealer. An answer would get him an easy sale.Burns me to chase someone to give them money when I jump through hoops to make a few dollars in my own trade.

Plenty of the same guys offering the same guns on every site-GA guys aren't any worse or better than the others.Reading the feedback can give you an insight into their attitude. The belligerent insulting attitude of some with a seemingly good track record keeps me from pushing the button,as there will be no satisfaction if the gun is not as represented.I worry about NIB offerings with no right of inspection that might be well shop worn.
