The adventure continues
I took a break from posting several months back when I started the police academy. On Friday 38 of the original 42 graduated. I made valedictorian with a 99.1 average, only beating the salutatorian by 6/10ths of a point. Sunday was the state licensing exam. All 38 passed on the first of three attempts. I managed a 98 on that one.
Now the real adventure begins. I'm still jobhunting, and have talked to the sheriff's office that sponsored me about reserving until I can find a fulltime patrol job somewhere.
Please wish my fellow cadets from Class 266 of the East Texas Police Academy good luck in our future careers.
James

TxShooter:
Congratulations on a job well done. Your marks are superb. Best of luck landing a "real job" although I think you will not have much problem with that. (+1 for what Spottedog said.)
Best wishes in your new career.
Chris

Good For You!
I graduated from the academy I attended in 1979. I was hired first by a city department and then they sent me to the academy a few months later. I worked the street before I went to the academy! That was common back then. Anyway, congratulations on your achievement and good luck with your career. It can get real interesting.

Looks like you have a good head on your shoulders. Good luck to you and remember the #1 thing in Law Enforcement is to go home at the end of your shift.
Have you thought about going Federal instead of the late night beat?

Thanks for all the well wishes.
Frizzman, I understand that Texas used to be the same way. New hires could work the road for about a year before they had to attend any formal training.
Damn Yankee, I haven't really given Federal too much thought. Might be an option later after I finish my degree.
