Default There is no 41 Magnum in my inventory of revolvers!

I know this will annoy and maybe anger fans of the .41 magnum, but I've avoided getting one to add to my collection on purpose.

First, the .44 Magnum is the big kid on the block. It does everything the .41 Magnum will do, and it does it with more diameter - .429 vs. 410. Admittedly, most game/adversaries will not notice the difference, but -

The guns chambered for 44 Magnum will also take and fire the milder and time-honored .44 Special - for practice and for less pounding on the hand. The .41 Mag does have a little brother, a factory down-loaded cartridge intended for law enforcement. But have you tried to get any lately? I thought so.

I do like .44 specials - generally lighter than the bigger .44 Mag, very accurate, and can be loaded to around 1100 fps if you really want to - essentially a downloaded .44 Mag.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't intend to get a 41. Mag!

That's perfect as far as I am concerned. I have no intentions to get a 44 mag. So I will leave the 44 mags to you and I will take the 41 mags you don't want.

I am just the opposite. I got a .41 mag in 1966. Carried it in LE. Killed a few deer and one elk with it.

I thought the Dirty Harry stuff was cool, but I couldn't afford and didn't ever need a bigger, badder gun than my .41.

Now I would have to get dies and all that other stuff to be able to feed a .44. I've got enough, I don't need anymore.

Ah brother Paladin, I too was an unwashed heathen not knowing the ways of the .41 Mag, then a goodish deal on an Ruger .41 mag. came into my life. Then followed the goodness of two S&W M-57's. Life is good, long range targets come more easily to hit's, lessend recoil annoint's my shooting hand. The mighty .44 Mag and it's lesser brothers the .44 special and .357 mag still live in my house in peace and harmony. Be not of faint heart, the .41 Mag bug may just bite ya in the butt yet!

I reload pretty much everything I shoot so I can have mouse loads or mammoth. All things considered, my .41 is more fun to shoot at the range and it'll get the job done just fine when it needs to.

But wait...

My 629 is pretty sweet too.

I bought one in 2003-it was a -1. I bought some ammo for it but never shot it. I kept it for 3 years and then sold it. It was unfired and I sold it 3 years later. I have several 44's that I used.

I guess now I will have to get rid of the Model 58 that I have had for 30 + years, or mayby the 657 ,,,,Hell now I am confused,,,a .44 that thinks it as good,as the .41 mag,,,a .410 or a .429...wonder if the BAD guy or the deer will know the difference

I've got a .38 WCF in a S&W...does that count?

I'd love to have a .41 Magnum...preferably a 6" Model 58.
But seeing that they never made such a creature, other than perhaps if Bowen made one or just have one made...I'm out of luck.

I just haven't seen a 57 or 58 at a price I thought was a deal yet.

I am also short on that caliber. Why is that?
I might have to correct this fault
But then that means another set of dies, brass, bullets.

I seem to be shy that particular caliber also.
No intention of changing it. I go from .357 to .44 without regrets.

So there will be many more out there to scoop up.

The .41 is a bit like a homeless dog. You don't go out looking for one, but when he comes to you, he can be one of the best dogs you will ever have.

I felt the same way about the .41 for many years - but was eventually "corrupted." I wouldn't mind having another one, or two...

I have found the 41 Magnum easy to reload, only drawback being the small selection of bullets.

Sir, IMHO the .41 mag is a good cartridge, but none too practical. My .44s and .45s already do everything I need out of a big-bore revolver. Wouldn't stop me from buying one, though.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.
