Default Divorce Court

An Alabama couple walking out of the divorce court, the wife is crying her heart out. Husband says, "Oh for Petes's sake stop crying, you're still my sister..

I used to teach school in a small town where that kind of stuff really happened.

Easy there, buddy.

In Georgia it's legal to marry your first cousin.

That's legal in 'Bama too; I know a few first cousin couples. It does make most people uncomfortable though. But back in the day when people grew up in small rural comunities and never traveled more than a few miles from home, the pool of prospective mates was small.

First cousins in Ms. have to go to Ala., La., or Tenn. to get married. I know of one such couple. They're grandparents now and each generation is worse than the one before. I don't know if it's because first cousins bred or because they just didn't know how to raise their kids. It does have it's advantages for the female side of such a relationship. She doesn't have to change any monograms or legal papers.

Then if I were you, I'd get out of Auburn and move to the western part...

Myself and a few friends just came back from a road trip down to lower Kentucky where one of the friends grew up.
Great scenery, history and most people were fun to talk with. Some were very interesting indeed. We met one young man who was so inbred, he claimed to be his own grandpa.

Funny...the Bubba/incest stereotype never dies. Extremely common in urban areas, actually. Ask my brother's wife, she worked in DYS for 25 years in New York City.

I'd tend to agree. I think though the bulk of the citified incest rarely involves marriage. Marriage would involve a card carrying father and loss of dependent child entitlements.

At 2:30pm ET today you can see on CBS sports what the the western side and the eastern side of Alabama think of each other. (generalization) I'm not in Auburn by no means.

The appropriate comment would get me censured. So I'll just say, had one, and that was more than enough. Hopefully you'll leave it lay.
