I'd like to make a donation to an organization that can do some good for the 4 LEO families up here in the Seattle area.

I can't actually answer your question, as I am not in Wa. and don't know that foundation. But, more often than not, someone from the PD or a family member will set up a trust account or similar and you can contribute directly to that, ensuring the entire contribution goes where you intend. Maybe call the Public Information Officer or similar for the Lakewood PD?
