Question Cimarron Arms

Most of my Cowboy guns are Rugers, but lately i have been looking at the Rooster shooter from Cimarron. I would buy it in 357, so i was wondering I have seen some of the guns rom Cimarron with the warning not to shoot plus Ps in them mostly the open tops.

My plan is to shoot standard pressure 38/357 loads through them, my concern is that I don't want to be restricted to the just the cowboy loads. So my question is has anyone here had any experience with the Cimarron guns?

IIRC, they are built by Uberti, but finished a bit better. Perfectly safe with .357s if that is the chambering.

I've owned a .44 Special, a .32-20, and a Model P Jr in .32-20/.32 Magnum. All were good shooters.

Cool I figure to buy one after the first of the year, I don't plan beating it to death mostly 38 specials but would like to fire factory 357 out of it.

I have one of their 1851 conversions in 38 special that I only use the cowboy loads in and it is a neat gun.

I love my Cimarrons, and have a pair in .357 magnum. Having said that, I only shoot .38 specials through them. I have put an occasional .357 mag through them, but it is done very infrequently. The design itself was not made for magnum loads in 1873. If I wanted to feed a single action a steady diet of magnum loads, it would be a Ruger or a Freedon Arms. The double action guns ( models 640-1, 28-2, and the Ruger GP-100) get shot a lot with magnum loads.

I am sure that the Uberti's will handle the mag loads occasionally, but I wouldn't do it regularly. The Rugers, and Freedom Arms single action six shooters will handle them with ease all day long.

I've had 2 Cimarron Thunderers. Both blue 3.5" barrel, seriously beautiful, well fit SA revolvers.

A Uberti SAA is a pretty close copy of a Colt. And they've been chambered for, and handling .357mags since before WW2.
