A home invasion usually invovles armed people invading your home and robbing you at gunpoint. You're probably talking about residential burglary when the residents are away. Yes, they do increase around Christmas.

Yeah, there have been a few on the TV news, but mostly not really near me. Couple have been, though.

When I'm at home at night, I keep a gun handy. If I think I may be the only one in my neighborhood with the lights on late, I'm very wary.

No I'm speaking of home invasion. I think everyone has seen an increase and I hope for the best. I'm away from home through the week and my wife hates guns so she won't let me teach her to shoot. The good thing is we have about 10 law enforcement officers living in my neighborhood.

They have increased in Atlanta. Strangers are knocking on doors in the dead of night. Last night a group of thugs kicked in the front door of a high dollar mansion in Atlanta. The single woman there hid in a closet as she dialed 911. Thieves got what they wanted, and even stole her car. Door was one of those expensive glass and panel doors, the lower panel pops right out with a swift kick, as the news report showed.

I have a friend that had 2 people knock on their door at 2AM several weeks ago. The door is all but armor plated, and the hoods went looking for someone else that would open the door for them.

So far no, but it's something I'm concerned about every time a car comes down the road 'cause we're the only house on it. At night a Model 60 with a cylinder full of FBI load .38's is always within easy reach...

I believe that about Atlanta. The last time I was there I watched the news and the shootings had become so bad they really didn't know what to do. Well everyone but the police chief, he went on vacation.

No home invasions here but I got robbed 2 Saturday nights ago. So did my next door neighbor. He lost gas cans & they broke into my Explorer. Got my tool kit, binoculars [small 10x25's Tasco] & my prescription driving glasses. Cops said car clouting is bad around here. Hope the *******s go blind if they use my sunglasses.

They are quite common here in the big H, and there was a recent
spike in this neighborhood, but I think the perps got caught in the
act recently, and have invaded a new home with bars on it. :/
Also lots of thievery, breaking into cars, etc.
Myself, I'm usually in the back of the house, and I tend to keep
the bedroom door closed. That way if someone kicks the front door
in, I'll hear them and have time to grab my lead spitting device.
At first, they won't know where in the house I am at, so I feel I
should be ready for them by the time they stumble across the
right door. I think once they see what I have in store for them, they
will runnoft. Most crooks in this area are chicken@#$%s..
I also keep my IR trail camera watching my trucks and driveway.
It caught some clown trying to break into a car across the street on
Nov 19. But it was locked, and he gave up and walked back down
the driveway. He didn't seem to want to mess with my trucks.
Probably because I've spread the word around the neighborhood that
messing with my house or vehicles is dangerous to ones health,
after one of them broke into one a few months back.

I had a few crack heads living in a rent house around the corner for a
while... They seem to be gone now.
I had one come along a while back trying to hit me up for $$$, and
I asked him if he knew anything about who broke into my truck.
"I actually think he was the one that did it." He proclaimed total
innocence, and I said well, OK then.. I then told him the next one
I catch in my trucks will probably go home in a box. Haven't seen him
since. He's runnoft..
Here is the video of the car burglar in action.. This was about 2 AM in
the morning. Note the top right of the video, and the car across the
street.

Luckily, I keep my newer car in the garage.. But I have a lot of tools in
those trucks. They broke into the front one facing the garage last time.
But they have broken into the other too.. Got a new floor jack, an
engine analyzer, old beater 2 meter ham radio out of that one facing the
street..
I've always got a weapon within arms reach when I'm here in the back
of the house.

Armed home invasion robberies around here (Eastern Shore of Virginia) usually happen to two groups of people, unarmed migrant farm workers who always carry cash, and drug dealers, who always carry cash and drugs.

I feel sorry for the migrant farm workers, they have no way to defend themselves. Try working twelve hours days, seven days a week picking tomatoes and some thug taking what lttle money you are paid. They can't get a handgun legally, and I don't think they try to get one illegally. Whenever they are attacked, they are unarmed, and the thugs know it.

The drug dealers, that's another story. Work long enough in that business, you either get shot or go to prison...

One thing that has improved is the farm owned migrant labor camps have armed gaurds at the gate and control access, the ones that are victimized are the ones who rent a house or mobile home to save money, multiple families living in the same home.

Other than crimes related to drugs, there is less crime here on the Eastern Shore than in other places. Our neighbor directly across the street had a truck stolen one night about 4:00 AM. The thief rolled the truck less than three miles down the road, destroying it. Took a couple weeks to solve the crime, the guy who stole the truck was the adult son of the owner...

If the migrant workers are illegals... then its criminals robbing criminals...
If not, then they REALLY need a bank account at a nationwide bank.
