Exclamation I have found a major problem with this forum...

It's DANGEROUS!!!

Mostly to my wallet and bank account, but also to my social connections besides those who share my love of firearms.

From being exposed to beautifully crafted pieces of art that all of us lust after, to fresh options for what will be our next conquest, to radically intriguing concepts of what else we can do with our existing colections, it fills our heads with ideas that make us salivate at our computers and contemplate day and night until we finally give in!

It is a sickness that we all share and I see no end in sight. The symptoms grow more severe every day. There is no cure...

And I don't want there to be a cure! I join a great group of people in this community and gain great insight into our shared love from those who have much more experience than I. I thank you for it!

It may be a sickness but we are far from suffering from it! My wallet may suffer but it is for a good cause. Did I call it a problem? Far from it!

And most of all I thank Lee for making this possible. I'm sure I am not alone.

And now, if you will excuse me, I have a convertible N-frame project to plan, further conquests to price, and beautiful specimens to dream about!

Yup, this forum has cost me a lot of money. Sadly, I don't regret it.

If your cry over a set of grips, you're a real man.

This is just another day in the life of a S&W forum member. The sickness we have can't be helped. So just suck it up and get over it. Don

I found this forum about three years ago. At that time I was interested in a Model 500 and wanted to get some feedback on it. I ended up getting that gun, and since then I have aquired over 50 S&W revolvers of all different calibers and vintages. Bank account, what's a bank account?

LOL! Even my wife has caught the S&W sickness. It wasn't enough for her to have her own Smiths; now she craves some of mine. Its good to have a partner who shares the same interests.

It is a recognized sickness. It does not manifest itself only in S&W's, but flow's over to Colt's, Savage's, Winchesters, Brownings, etc. I have been struggling with this sicknessw for several years, and have found no cure. At one point I found myself fondling a Jennings, and knew I had gone too far.

The advice I was given was to take two 1911's and a Garand and call back in the morning if not better.

I've sold off some stuff recently to get better stuff. My wife just said, " I'm not complaining or anything but why do you go get a new gun when you have all those other ones?" I don't even remember my response. But since no cash comes out of our bank accounts I don't tell her anything. I just sat in front of the TV playing around with this Colt SAA 45 I just got. As far as she knows it's one I always had. I'll probably come home one day and find my whole family sitting in my living room with Dr. Phil for an intervention. Hey. At least we aren't compulsive gamblers or hang out at strip clubs blowing the family funds, right?

Default Major problem with forum

My lovely wife buys me a set of Kurac grips for Xmas(highly figured feather crotch claro walnut for N frames). The day after Xmas we are prowling around Boise and I find a like new Idaho Leather Co. shoulder holster for 6 1/2" N frame. 24 cartridge loops and everything. Didn't have any money left after Xmas but good ole plastic bought it for $100 under retail. Oh well, cheaper than a drug habit I guess, and a heck of a lot more fun.

Happy New Year everyone.

Julian

"From being exposed to beautifully crafted pieces of art that all of us lust after,". I'm glad that I'm not the only one who considers a fine older model Smith revolver as art. I love to listen to the action of one as I slowly thumb back the hammer (safely of course). I still cringe every time that I watch Dirty Harry when he is at the foot of that tower and the BG tells him to dispose of his gun and I hear that Model 29 hit and slide across the concrete.

That sums it up pretty well. The longer I hang around this place, the longer my wish list grows. It's a slippery slope and these folks are more than willing to give you a little push...

Well it's good to see that I'm not alone, I thought I would find a few co-enablers

And it's getting worse, a Sigma .40 AF followed me home from Bud's today... Well they won't be getting any cheaper, am I right?!

It's just Galloping Gunnorea, get used to it, there is no cure.
But another fix, does make it easier to live with.
