Snow Storm in the Blue Ridge
We got 12 inches yesterday afternoon and last night and up to another 12 are being called for today. No way nothing here is moving for a few days, but it looks as if a white Christmas is virtually guaranteed.
How'd the rest of y'all in the target area make out?

My Dad just called me from Roanoke, Va., he says he has so much snow it has drifted against the door and he can't even open the door to get out of the house! That, and his satellite TV has gone out, so he has only the radio for entertainment. Going to be a boring couple of days for him...

Beautiful sunny sky this morning with a high of 58 today.
We have had enough rain for a while. Normal is around 5 inches for December and we have gotten over 15 so far this month.

No Show
Once again, Charlotte dodged a bullet, or rather, the bullet went around.
Yesterday, it was predicted that we would have rain, sleet, and small snow. Turned out to be nothing be rain, thankfully. Just north of us, between here and the mtns., they got several inches of snow, and alot up in the High Country.
I know that weather prediction is an iffy science at best, as Mother Nature is a very capricious lady, but I wish I had a job where I could be as wrong as a weatherman is, as often as he is, and get paid some nice money, with no one ever saying anything about it.
Now, the sun is out and it's another glorious day in paradise.
Merry Christmas All!

Tell him to crawl out a window and clean off the dish and git back in there. It'll melt in a few days.

forecasts for snow in parts of the Washington DC area are now running as high as 25". its noon here in Arlington and its coming done very heavy and is expectd to for the next 4-6 hours. the federal government will likely be closed for a couple or three days. after 8" of snow the above ground Metro rail lines are no longer plowed. getting around is very difficult right now even in 4 wheel drive vehicles. this is by far the heaviest snow we have seen in a long time.

+1 Unless the cloud cover is to great that's all he has to do is wipe off the dish and continue watching tv. I have dish also and we hardly go without as long as you keep the dish clean. Maybe he can cut a hole in the bottom of the door enough to stick the hair dryer through and melt the snow that way. It's times like these that keep the pizza places in business as long as they can get around.

Floyd County, Virginia, sir, at about 2500 feet. Highest peak we have here is Buffalo Mountain, at just under 4,000.

Have you ever noticed that when a storm hits the east coast, it's a crisis that will end the world. Front Page News. Really Important!! It's winter, get over it.

Kindly read my posts before commenting, sir. First big snowfall here in more than a decade. We're enjoying it. That's what happy people do.

We live in Franklin County about 30 miles southeast of Roanoke, VA. Didn't go out to measure today, but there appears to be about 15" of snow piled on top the bird bath. Maybe I'll try to shovel a path down my driveway to the street tomorrow, although that won't help much since we probably won't see a snowplow on our dead-end street for at least another day.

Nothing but rain so far here. We are supposed to get a dusting but not much else. I don't miss snow one bit.

Yep, like I've always said, weather forecaster and baseball player is the only profession where you can go 1-for-3 on average and be near the top of your field.

Greetings from Colorado...nice photos Bullseye 2620!
I remember many years ago in Baltimore it snowed 2-3 inches and everything shut down, nobody went anywhere.
Being a Colorado native I was amazed.
Few knew how to drive in the snow, no one had snow tires....there was no snow removal equipment for roads!
Do enjoy and stay safe. Preston

This is all we got yesterday. Maybe 3 inches at best. Mom and Dad live more in the western part of the city so they got about 5 inches. Roads were in great shape today but we'll probably see some black ice tonight and early tomorrow.

Build a fire in the fireplace, break out the mulling spice and cinnamon sticks, and put on some Christmas music.

I'm jealous. I wanted a white Christmas. But, alas, sunshine and 50 degrees. Y'all throw a snowball for me.
(I know, I know, I shouldn't complain, I don't have to shovel, etc.)

Missed Again!
The part of Va. Beach where I live got a suggestion of snow. The rest of the state got a "White Christmas" and we got cold rain and mud, as usual. If I didn't love the ocean, I would move to higher ground. The Blue Ridge Mountains are my favorite travel destination in Virginia. Those are beautiful photos folks.

I just finished shoveling out the front walk all the way to the car, the plow came through yesterday and didn't bury us, and so, all of this snow is beginning to look a whole lot prettier.
