Default Andy Horvath, Custom Gunsmith.

I am considering converting a Colt New Service into a "Fitz". He does conversions according to a good friend and I am curious if anyone on the Forum has used his services? Thanks in advance, and Best Regards, Joe.

Joe

Andy has been doing my work for years. He has modified and built a number of custom revolvers both Smiths and single actions.

He performs the metal, wood, leather work himself case color goes to Turnbull. He is one of the two most talented gunsmiths I have ever dealt with he is an artist in metal. I even talked him into stocking a custom 416 rifle. For the last few years he always has some project of mine in his shop he has also built guns for a number of my friends and is one of John Taffin's favorite pistol smiths. According to Taffin he has built guns for Don Johnon and Mickey Rourke.

If you want to see some photos of his work I will email them to you or if you have further questions ask.

Taffin has Andy's Fitz conversion in one of his books

Hi, Joe. I have that Taffin "Fitz" article within reach here if you want a pic. of Taffin's gun. It's amazing. There's a little Fitz cult brewing over at the Colt forum. More people than I realized have chopped N.S.'s. I'm hooked. Here's mine for the zillionth time, a 1917.

Gentlemen, thank you for your response to my question. John Taffin suggested that I call Mr. Horvath. I did and he was willing to do my conversion as long as it was for "historical" purposes and not for real use. I understand all pistolsmiths' reluctance to do modifications that today are considered dangerous.
