Didn't know this!
I was just flipping channels and came across some news show about guns.
They described that Elvis was armed with a loaded 45 during his meeting with Nixon.
Didn't know that!

I have my suspicions about the veracity of that statement - the Secret Service did not let anybody near President Nixon if that person was in posession of a firearm, no matter who they were. President Nixon visited my Uncle John in Wisconsin during his time in office, and prior to the visit, they ran background checks on everybody in the household, his employees (grounds keepers, maids, etc.), invited guests (including me - that raised a few eyebrows at my Military Academy when the brass were interviewed about me regarding a visit from the President), and they secured his gun collection for the duration of the visit. There was no doubt that everybody that would be there for the private visit was quite the opposite of a threat to the President, but the firearms were accounted for, locked up and guarded from prior to his arrival until after departure. On the other hand, Elvis packing a loaded .45 while chatting with Nixon makes a great story, no matter what!

I had heard that he (Elvis, not Nixon!) was high as a kite during the meeting. THAT I believe... that he was armed, I don't.

"The guns Presley had brought including the one he brought as a gift for Nixon had to be left at the gate..."
This is an interesting read about the meeting: When Elvis met Nixon - Elvis Presley - Zimbio
