Default Didn't expect to see this in a movie

Saw "The Blindside" New Year Eve based on the last 8 years of Michael Oher's (Ravens left offensive tackle) life and a true story. Great movie and really liked it as I'm from Baltimore and a Ravens fan.

In one scene Sandra Bullock's character (future adoptive mother) confronts some thugs in Memphis's hood and tells them to leave Michael alone in the future. The thug lifts his shirt up exposing an automatic tucked into his waistband and tells her if she keeps coming around she may get hurt. She tells him "I'm a card carrying member of the NRA and I'm packin'" as she pats her purse.

Just struck me funny to hear that in a movie made in Hollywood.

Really? Personally, I'm surprised when there aren't any guns in movies these days.

Although.. what's surprising is the fact that the female character said "yeah I have a gun too!" when the thug exposed his... think about it. He can easily get to his sooner than she can get hers from her purse..... not a good idea, Sandra.

Default Don't believe everything you see in the movies.

What makes you think she actually had her pistol in her purse? It could be that she had it in her hand behind her back or in some other quick to deploy position.

She could have been patting a hand grenade in her purse!

It's a movie. Anyone who watches that **** without saying "BS" out loud every time that BS shows up is internalizing nonsense that could easily get him or her killed in the unlikely event that he or she ever actually needs a gun. Guns are not to be announced, or presented. They are used, or not used.

Get real.

Sandra Bullock would not need a gun to get me to do just about anything that she wanted! Very attractive lady IMHO!

It is weird that the NRA would be mentioned in a good way in a movie. Maybe things are changing for the better!

I saw the movie when it first came out and loved it. I even liked it when she didn't back down from the thugs so don't read to much into the movie, be glad she mentioned she was packing and don't mess with me.

I recently saw a news story on the real family and lady who became Michael Oher's guardian and she appears to be small and feisty in real life as she was in the movie. The family also is well off flying their private jet to the Ravens games. I have no doubt without their help Michael Oher would be on the street or dead by now.

Not everything in life has to "tactically" correct. Sometimes movies are just entertainment.
