Gunpal Reviews?
The Gunpal on-line payment system (a firearms-friendly alternative to PayPal) went live about two months ago. Does anyone have any experiences to report -- good or bad?

They also took a bazooka to my car and poured lemon juice on my dry, cracked hands!
Come on. DCWilson asked a fair question. He deserves a fair answer, not some nonsense. Sorry DC.

Hi Ben,
Welcome to the forum. I am glad you are here.
Isn't google wonderful for finding 4 month old threads. I wouldn't put much stock in a user who only shows up to bash and then disappears. It appears that account was created for the sole purpose of posting to this thread.
On a positive note, we are going to be implementing gunpal as a way to pay for subscriptions here. We are just waiting for the vBulletin API to come out of beta.
Again, welcome!
Regards,
Dave

Hello Dave, there are always a few. It frankly sounds like he has us mixed up with the 'other pal' as it were I've been unable to find his user account in our system but if I do we will make things right.
In any event, perfect timing as the vB plugin is coming out of beta in a few days I would be happy to put you in touch with some GP engineers to make it live. We are using it over at calguns.net with good results.

I've used gunpal and am satisfied. Easy as paypal but they have their priorities straight. I'll continue to use gp.

I just downloaded your VB hack. I'll check it out soon. Might just get rid of the other Pal as a way to pay on my site. I'd like to check out your product a little more first. Thanks

The problem I have with PayPal, GunPal or whomever is not the issues of joining or getting credit for payments.
I buy guns on several different sites. Not one of those I have bought from on those sites accepted anything other than money orders, cashiers check or credit cards.
Signing up for Gunpal ten years from now may be the best thing in the world but there are few individuals and not a lot of businesses accept it at this time.

I see what you are saying but it's the convenience that you're paying for. It's like trading with a store that doesn't have a bank card machine or doesn't accept personal checks. These types of secure payment services allow you to pay from home and never have to do the footwork that getting and mailing a money order does. I have spent alot of time just doing the running around and sometimes what you pay them in fees is worth the time that it saves you.
As for not alot of folks accepting it, that will probably change with time. All of those others had to catch on too.

As with other forms of convenience payment some sellers are charging the buyer the cost of using the service. Some even make an additional profit for allowing the customer to use the service. I made a small purchase on an auction site yesterday, and to use GunPal I was charged 3% of the invoice total plus $1.00. The cost was still less than that of an envelope, postage stamp, money order fee and taking time from work to drive to the post office for the money order. So, I paid it, and the seller got his money the same day plus an additional profit of .2% plus $0.70 for letting me pay from the convenience of my home.

I can't vouch for "Yahooseller" but I can vouch for Gunpal, and for Ben Cannon, who I've met on a few occasions. Ben is a stand-up guy and an energetic pro-gun entrepreneur in every good sense of the word. He's also helping lead the fight here in California.
I'm looking forward to Gunpal being widely used on all the auction sites in the coming months/years. Who knows, maybe some larger-volume sellers (like Bud's Gunshop) will incorporate it as well

From a marketing point of view, if a few larger online firearm sellers or even some firearm companies incorporate it into their "accessory" e-commerce sites, it will give it more validity and traction.

I have a Gunpal account and I have used it to pay forum members here for items purchased in the classifieds. It works great and is easy to set up. I recommend using it.

I recently signed up and have so far used it once to purchase a gun on an auction site. Signed up on a Sunday night, linked an account and was able to complete a purchase and pay Monday morning. Seller received his funds immediately. The whole transaction went smoothly with no problems.

Can you tell me why you also have another User ID on this forum- "Bang340" ????
I am really beginning to suspect an organized smear campaign here.

I just looked at getting a gunpal account. I immediatly found a "gpal.net" on the internet, is this "gunpal" or a fake website?

Gunpal has changed it's name to gpal. I don't know why. I am a member and have made one purchase for a small amount ($ 50.00 ) without problem.

Lee, I think you're right about an organized smear. The story other places seems to mirror the one told here. then some others jump in.
I'm sure there have been glitches, but I think someone just hates the guys who started this.
Gunpal changed its name after several folks on the 'net suggested it'd grow faster, be more attractive if the "gun" was gone. Then, after they did that, some folks complained. Imagine that, folks complaining about something on the Internet.
I'll bet Al Gore never envisioned such a thing when he invented the Internet.

I wish they would get it together or fade away.
We need a service like them but no one needs the disservice they seem to offer.
I suspect that if they had some competition in the field ... things would change for the better.

I have, but I'm afraid the owner of this web site has restricted me from talking about it in open forum (he will ban me) therefore if you PM me I would be glad to give you the details.

none ... since I never went in on a Gpal acct since it was just too new and later, the bad reputation they have developed.
Dont get me wrong in the least ... between getting things squared away or fading away, I'd like to see them thrive.
but at this point, their rep is almost past the point of no return. there are only two roads for them ... get it down to a tight running machine or close shop.
