Doesn't get much better.....How do you relax?
So,
Its been snowing for about 3hrs now here in the heart of North Carolina. I've just poured a hot cup-o-joe, my wife pulled a fresh apple pie out of the oven about an hour ago and now everyone is in bed. The dog is curled up beside me and I've got my M36 next to me. This has been a long week and its nice to be doing some Friday night relaxing. I figure in about an hour or so, I'll pour a few fingers of Knob Creek, stoke the fire a bit and call it a night.
Question is: How do you relax after a loooooong week?

A visit to the man cave with a cup-O-coffee and some nice shiny caseings waiting to be reloaded. In the summer a nice motorcycle ride will do the trick also.

I am retired so relaxing is a way of life. Hanging out here
on the S&W forum and shooting my S&W's is my way to be
relaxed. Don

It's been snowing all afternoon here with a build up of about 5 inches, only about an annual occurance in the central Ozarks. After dark I put on my overcoat, boots and hat, and me an Champ the border collie took a walk down the gravel road in the stillness of the light snowfall. Actually quite peaceful.
Got back after about 45 minutes later and my wife was just pulling some pan fried chicken and mash potatoes and gravy off the stove and some homemade biscuits out of the oven.

Sitting in the recliner, watching the tube, checking the snowfall.
Wife made it to the store for the bread and milk. It's a law in NC to rush out and get bread and milk whenever snow is in the forecast.
Just about time to hit the sack when both kids come rushing downstairs telling us about a strange noise in the wall. Something is in there making a strange cat-like whimper/light growl and scratching noise. Both our cats are on the back porch so we know it's not them.
The kids will sleep in our room on air mattresses tonight and I'll try to evict the critter tomorrow.
Back to relaxing again...

Sparky,
Sounds like it could be squirrels. You really don't realize how bombarded we are by noise all day until you are surrounded by quiet. The late evening and early, early morning are my favorite times of day.

Getting into the office in Baghdad, eating leftovers from the chow hall, listening to Fox news and surfing this forum. Once the boss and secretary come in all peace and quiet goes RIGHT OUT THE DOOR!!!!

Polishing
The bishop advised me a two-tone might be a nice finish on the new 66-2. I've been rubbing-out the cylinder and bbl. with Happich simichrome polish. I'm getting too old to rub it much more although I am getting results. I think the soft
fluff wheel on the dremel at low speed with the jewelers rouge might just get the desired results.
Photo's to follow!

rf, please forgive me, but this just struck me as hilarious. Somebody could really take that out of context! Maybe it's because I'm so old myself.

My wife put me to work last night, after lounging all week. I had to preheat the oven, cut up some olives and green pepper. Than I had to microwave some phony(veggie) sausage, throw it all on a pizza and bake. She made a salad and we watched the first disc of Burns National Parks, from our towns library. Two dogs and two cats curled up on the sofa with us to watch.

I like to retire to my man cave, put some classical music on the stereo and reload or clean guns. For me there is nothing more relaxing, the wife and I have an unspoken agreement that when I am up there I'm not disturbed.

It'll be gun cleaning day for me as well as we're pretty much snowed in. Not because anything is inpassable, but because everything is closed. I'll spend some time giving my "new" 24-3 a good scrubbing this morning.

Besides relaxing on this forum, I like to read. Especially in the evening, when it's nice and quiet. My two mini Doxies curl up in bed with me, and I open a book. Also a great time to read some scripture and have prayer time.
