Interesting. I went over to the Charles Daly forum for the first time and didn't realize the following they had. I don't know that I've ever even handled a Charles Daly firearm, but it's unfortunate they're going out of business none the less.

I bought one of the enhanced field models. In over a half century of hand gunning it is the best 1911 I ever owned. Accurate and reliable right out of the box with every modification I could desire. I only wish it had been available when I was in L.E. The early ones were so-so at best but they got it right with the enhanced models. Mine was on sale for $385 because few people realized how good they were. The problem was finding one. I never saw a new one in a gun shop. They were made in the Philippines by Armscor who markets a similar model called the Tactical, I believe. They are not easy to find in gunshops either. I suppose dealers would rather sell the higher cost (profit) 1911s. Their customer service was first rate as well. So is Armscor as I understand it.

I don't think 'Charles Daly' ever made any guns, but they sure marketed lots of them. They used to sell lots of shotguns, but I've seen FEG made Hi-Powers marked 'Charles Daly', as well as AR carbines they had marketed recently.
