Firearms are not allowed to be carried while bow hunting during "bow only" season in Tennessee.

Hunting with a bow is allowed during rifle season and you can carry a legal firearm along with your bow at that time.

Just this past season, Georgia changed the regulations to state that a carry permit holder may carry a handgun while bow hunting during bow only season and during muzzle loader season. It was argued that to not allow a carry permit holder to carry his handgun during any part of hunting season was against the spirit of the law and DNR agreed.

In Minnesota a firearm may be carried while bowhunting as long as it is concealed while in the presence of a CO or other law enforcement personel.

NY is thinking of changing this law. we are getting a larger bear and coyote population(some say big cat's to) i have a carry permit and i just think it's my right to protect myself, weather in a treestand or just walking in the woods, early morning or once the sun goes down...

PA issues a Sportsmans Firearm Permit for open carrying a revolver while engaged in fishing, hunting, trapping and/or dog training. It's $6, good for 5 years, and you must have a valid hunting or fishing permit.

In Maryland NO firearms are allowed during bow only season.

The first black bear sniffing up your tree stand makes one think long and hard about choices and consequences.

Thumbs up Michigan

From the MI DNR website:

Archery Deer Seasons
During the archery deer seasons, it is illegal to carry afield a pistol, revolver or other firearm while bow hunting for deer.
Exceptions: This prohibition does not apply to pistols carried under authority of a concealed pistol license or properly carried under authority of a specific exception from the requirement of a concealed pistol license. However, a concealed pistol license does not authorize the individual to use the pistol to take game except as provided by law.

When we first got CC the OH DNR decided to play God and refuse us our rights- even on our own land etc. That lasted a year I think. I usually carry now bowhunting and woodwalking. Makes no sense to me to go unprotected in the secluded areas anymore than the city.

Indiana allows it, if you have a CCP.

Default CCW while bow hunting

Ky and AR allow it, if you have your carry permit. You have to be careful, in some states you have to inform the CO you are carrying if approached.

In Montana, it's a little vague (what the regulations intend), but everyone I know who bow hunts carry a large pistol, and most carry pepper spray too.
Grizzly bears at times will come running when they hear your elk bugle call.

from MFWP regs:
"Archery Only Season: A season usually prior to the “General Season,” when deer, elk and antelope may be hunted only with lawful archery equipment. Occasionally, some hunting districts with special circumstances may allow concurrent firearm use to address game damage issues; or firearms may be used for hunting other species, such as black bear.
ArchEquip Only: A weapons restriction limiting hunting to the use of lawful archery equipment."

In Virginia, carrying a firearm while bowhunting is prohibited with the exception of carry of a concealed handgun with a concealed carry permit. You may not use the handgun to take game. I believe that goes for National Forrest lands in Va. also.

Legal in Oregon for a few years. Too many hunters were having close encounters with other hunters that were using fangs.

Here in the Badger State we can carry a handgun while bowhunting for black bear. The law requires the barrel to be at least 4". The season is also open for gun hunters. If you choose to have a camera man along, he must have a harvest tag to be able to carry a gun. It's hard to receive a harvest tag here, so chances are he can film but can only carry a camera. (I have his back)
