Great piece of history. As someone who loves US military history, SGT York is one of my favorites.

Tenn. museum gets gun it says WWI hero seized [Sgt. York]

You never know when you're going to find a Maxim '08 down at the local library I guess..

Glad they were able to save it and not have it siezed and destroyed.

I agree. If this was England or Australia this gun would be sitting atop a pile of scrap metal. I hope it’s preserved forever.

Remember, when he brought that machine gun home as a souvenir it was perfectly legal to have a full auto firearm as there was no Federal Tax on them until the 1930's.

A philanthropist. Of cousre the government ensured that he was impoverished when he died. Then the Army named the last AA gun the "YorK". Doomed to failure-we haven't come up with a new one since!
