Default Galazan recoil pads

I need to have the stock cut and a pad put on a pre-war
Winchester Model 12 20 gauge shotgun. Has anyone used
the red Winchester patent date pads that Galazan sells?
Just wondered if they're easily fitted and finished.

The Galazan repro Winchester pad is no different than any other recoil pad, still has to have the excess carefully removed on the belt sander then hand finished. I completed installing one on a M/70 the other day, they can't be told from originals in details they do look crisper around the edges. I had a gun shop not too far from Galazan's in the eraly '80's, he sold us flawed pads for $7.00, now he gets over $40.00.

Nice pads, look great on the guns and like Marksman says, they fit up like any other quality pad.
The repro Winchester pads,,unless they've recently changed them already(and I've heard that a change in the mould was in order), have one tiny difference in the lettering on them that you can tell them apart from an original.

Thank you Marksman! I may try one on my shotgun. Now they
have a small and large size. The small is 4 7/8" long while the
long is 5 1/2". If I buy the small I'm afraid it may be too small
while the long is probably going to need a good bit taken off.
Probably better off to buy the large size???

I’ve purchased CSM pads and had them installed on guns before. They’re much softer and a lighter color than factory pads and they seem to be hard to properly fit. There’s no mistaking them for an original. I think my gunsmith freezes them after they’re fitted so he can remove the flashing and smooth rough edges.

Why do you have to modify a pre-war stock? If it’s just a matter of fit, maybe you should look for a short stock to use/modify and keep the original intact. It could more than pay for the other stock in the long run.

If it was in excellent condition then I wouldn't mess with it,
but there's a split at the toe and I use the gun to hunt with
anyway so it doesn't matter. This gun isn't a closet queen and
it gets taken out and used hard. A little long on the pull for
me too.
