Talking Recapped my first Tube radio~ It works ~!

Like I dont have enough to do these days,,,
But Eileen and I love these old radios, Well just about anything old, And we have had a soft spot for old Tube radios,,, And a few weeks ago we found this one in the back of a garage/junk shop.
Well we have never done this kind of work before, So I joined another forum and met some great folks there and we ordered all the Capacitors and electrolytics and then over the past week we replaced a bunch of wires where the old rubber insulation turned to dust, All the capacitors and the Litics,,,, We didnt refinish the "Box" But it is now working quite well and we are happy with out achievements in the electrical restoration of this Zenith Chair side radio !
Addition,,, Radio is from 1941
And I will tell you this,
Taking a Smith revolver completely apart, Cleaning and stoning a few parts sure seems easier now that we did this !\
Just wanted to share.

Now we just got 24" of snow here in Philadelphia this past weekend, Not it's Tue night and we are getting another 12-18" .
But I am prepared !
Our '84 G wagon with 32"ers and lockers front and rear.

We only wonder what we will do Wed.
She's a nurse and she HAS to go to work, I have already been told not to come in.
I wonder if the gun shops will be open?
Peter

A lot of news stories have been heard on that old Marconi.

Good Evening Mr. and Mrs. America, and All the Ships at Sea.

Peter - that is very cool!
I've collected radios for years. I'm mainly into the old German tube radios that are short wave. I have numerous Blaupunkt and few Telefunkens. I have a couple American table-top radios from the 50's-70's

My great aunt had a Zenith Transoceanic. I spent some time at their house, and I could listen to broadcasts from all over the world. Often thought I'd like to pick one up and restore it.
