Clint Eastwood Movies...
Tonight it’s ‘Two Mules for Sister Sarah’...in the past couple of months it was ‘The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly’, ‘Fistful of Dollars’, ‘A Few Dollars More’, and ‘Hang ‘em High’. Started off with Bloodwork and the 5 Magnum Force Movies.
Never gets old...what are your favorite Clint Eastwood movies?

I always get Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars more mixed up...but I like the one with Clint and Lee Van Cleef as bounty hunters.
Going off grid a bit, but he is a killing machine in Where Eagles Dare. I can never pass by that one when I see it on.
I could go on and on.

Unforgiven and Grand Torino.
Unforgiven—
“We all have it comin’, kid.”
One of the greatest movie lines.

For those who do not know. The third episode in the Dollar series was called "A Dollar to Die For" Never made into a movie. It is where Tuco and the man with no name met. I read the book many years ago. It might have been adapted from a screen play that was never used.

First Clint Eastwood movie I ever saw was "Every Which Way But Loose", at a drive-in and I was a kid.
Also enjoyed "Firefox" but my modern favorite is "Grand Torino"

I could never pick one favorite. I didn't care for 2 of his but the special thing about Clint Eastwood is his contribution to the movie industry and the tremendous quality and quantity of his movies. He was creative, and not afraid to try new things on either side of the camera. He seemed to have a vision and a way to bring those visions to the screen. I can't think of anyone who has contributed more.
He says a man has got to know his limitations but I'm not so sure he had any.

As the story goes, back when he was on Rawhide, he paid attention. On breaks he would not go to his trailer to relax, etc. He would stay on the set and talk with the crew. Cameramen, grips, gaffers, anybody. Looks like that time was well spent. Sure would have been great if he had made a Western with the Duke.

Yep, I like and use that quote a lot too
But my favorite movie is probably the “Outlaw Josey Wales”:
Josey: “If I get to likin’ someone they ain’t around long.”
Lone Watie: “I noticed if you get to dislikin’ someone they ain’t around for long either.”

Gotta be Josey Wales....
...AND The Good the Bad and the Ugly.
I just watched 'Unforgiven' again. I wasn't impressed the first time I watched it, but every time I do it gets better and better.
One you don't hear much about is 'Play Misty for Me'
A very unusual offering was 'The Beguiled'.
Worst:
Firefox
Bridges of Madison County wasn't the 'worst', but anybody could have played that part.
Honorable mention:
Playing a jet pilot in 'Tarantula' but all you can recognize is his voice.
I left 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot' but I heard it got better toward the end.
It wouldn't be right if I omitted 'Dirty Harry'.

The Outlaw Josey Wales is my all time favorite, and I've read most people are with me on that one. One of the few movies that Sondra Locke isn't too obnoxious.
I'm with you about not watching Bridges of Madison County. Sounds like a dopey plot for a movie and I never did care for Meryl Streep.
One I wish I could un-watch is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Ok, he wasn't in it, he just directed it.

Clint is a huge Jazz Fan.
A few ago on a PBS Blues Special, Clint asked Dave Brubeck
“Who were your Blues Influences?,
Dave had a confused look as he mumbled an answer.
Dave Brubeck is a Classical Guy who went over to Jazz.
He most likely never had any Blues influences.

The first Clint Eastwood movie I saw was "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". But I was in Africa at the time, and it was in French, with Arabic subtitles, and although I enjoyed the movie, I didn't quite understand what was going on. Having watched it many times since then in English, I'm still somewhat at a loss. I do still enjoy it though.
Best Regards, Les

“Pale Rider” derserves mention not just because it had what I consider the coolest Clint movie poster ever; I still have a copy that I talked a video store owner out of back in 1986/87 sometime.
It is also notable for a unique gun scene: an actual “combat reload” of an authentic cartridge-conversion Remington during the final confrontation, using a spare cylinder.

Well, since you asked:
Bridges of Madison county - He plays an adulterer and a twerp and Meryl Streep always made me want to get up and leave the room. A terrible and totally unbelievable part for him.
Bronco Billy - He plays a wishy-washy whiner and Sondra Lock stunk up the screen as usual. I walked out of the theater after about a half hour.
To me all the rest range from good to excellent.

Thanks...I’ll be able to sleep tonight
Interestingly enough, I haven’t seen either of them. If I had to pick a least favorite, it would probably be “The Beguiled.” I liked him better as a Rebel in OJW than as a Yankee in Beguiled. Plus his character was scheming and disingenuous and I always like to think of Clint as a good guy.

Unforgiven
Outlaw Josey Wales
Million Dollar Baby
Unforgiven is probably the best “film”, but OJW I can watch over and over again. The only movie I have ever watched more times is “Rancho Deluxe”.
BTW, has anyone seen “The Salvation”, with Mads Mikkelsen, the Danish actor? It would be a misnomer to call it a lutefisk Western, since he’s not Norwegian, but it has a noticeably different feel. Not a bad movie, but it sure owes a lot to Clint’s westerns.

To me all the rest range from good to excellent.

......we definitely flock together.
Didn't think Bronco Billy was that bad, but agree about Sondra Lock. Everybody is entitled to a mid life crisis, but that was an awful. I'm just glad that she wasn't in 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' enough to stink that one up and there were about 100 better actors doing fine jobs to cover for her.
Madison County (again) could have been played by ANY actor. Clint was wasted on it.

He has made so darn many movies, and not a bad one in the bunch.
I like all of them, but if I had to choose the best I might pick Unforgiven,
The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Heartbreak Ridge.

Yep, sure was. But it was seeing a young Clint Eastwood in a cardigan sweater and a Ban-Lon shirt that made my eyes cross.

"Right turn Clyde"
Orville was a hoot.
Dragging the car until it was nothing but a piece of bumper was really funny.
My favorite was the one with Bill Smith.
They were fun.
