Finally was able to get a pic of my H & R 158 single shot in .22 Hornet that I snagged for $150. I took the Weaver fixed 4 power off and put on a 3-9 Tasco. That scope went on my wife's Savage single shot. The front sight is also now gone so it looks much cleaner. Now if the coyotes will only cooperate.

I bought one years ago for groundhogs. It's very picky about ammo and won't shoot factory fodder for fudge. Using IMR4227 it will shoot a very tight group at 100yds.

I have one of those, a "handy rifle" in electroless nickel. Never have got to shoot it much. Also came with a 20 gauge shotgun barrell which I do shoot a bit.

Back in the 70's, when bolt action Hornets were non-existant, I bought and shot a H&R "Topper", they called it. I put a 10X Weaver scrdsope on it. At 150 yards I covered my groups with a DIME.

I have one in 17 HRM and one in 223. Just have not found a good deal on a 22 Hornet yet.

why take off the weaver 4x scope? and what did you do with it?

I just read your post about your .22 Hornet...I have one that was bought back in the late 80's and use it for a white tailed deer rifle...it is poison when it comes to laying them down. Projectile placement is the key. Up to 100 yds. I would fire it at the biggest buck that walks. Have a 3X9 on it and factory rounds by Winchester. Loaned it to a friend and he downed a spike at 70 yds. neck shot...the deer took one step forward bleated and fell down dead in his tracks...pulverized the entire neck roast...just thought I'd let you know that if you place your prjectile right...you can bring him down.
