Default The U.S.A. Model H-D pistol

I thought you'd like to see this pic of an original High Standard U.S.A. H-D pistol, together with its original instruction sheet. This gun and others like it were made for the armed services during World War II for inexpensive target practice. Like the 1911 .45 pistols, it had fixed sights and a hammer. Some were equipped with sound suppressors and issued to the O.S.S. during the war. This one was made in October of 1944.

John, just saying amen to your post. Years ago when I was a guard for lockheed they hired many retired ex spooks from various agencys. One guy that hired in with me was ex CID, criminal investigation division of the army. Thats the same gun that he told me he carried. At the time I thought he was giveing me a line of bs. Who would carry a 22? You just cleared his story to me! Its been 45 years!
Here is one I own. This is a "blood gun". A friend of mine was a deputy in colorado in the 50s/ early 60s. He solved a murder by finding this one threw on a filling station roof right after catching the guy. The judge gave him the gun after the trial. I traded him out of it. I added the carved ivory grips.
