JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE OUT - THEY DRAG YOU BACK IN
Well, I decided not to buy anymore firearms.
I attended a show today. Smaller stuff was selling, but not reasonably priced guns. I was at a table with a friend, and here comes this guy with a bunch of old Smiths - model 60, model 19, model 10, etc . They were all fairly priced. I resisted, and I was proud of myself. Saw him later, and he still had all of them.
A guy came by with a Desert Eagle in 44 mag. The price was 750.00. He said that he did not shoot much anymore and wanted to sell a couple of guns.
I tried to sell a 686 7 shot without the lock, also a 45 auto, with no takers all day. Things were really slow.
After 7 hours, I decided to leave, as the money just was not there. Saw the guy with the Smiths again, he still had all of them.
Well, there was the guy with the Desert Eagle, he stopped me and asked if I was interested. He said 500.00 would take it.
Well, I now have a Desert Eagle.
When you think you're out, they drag you back in.

It's an addiction, don't run from it or deny it, it only comes back stronger. Enjoy it.

You went to a gun show and wound up going home with another gun? What a surprise! I was a substance abuse counselor in a previous life and heard the same story over and over..."I went to the bar/crack house/street corner, etc, etc. just to listen to the music/talk to old friends/see if anything had changed and I somehow wound up getting drunk/stoned/high"...There is an old saying, "If you sit in the barber shop, you will wind up getting a haircut." It is an addiction and if you want to stay "clean" you have to stay away from the shows. As for me, I am going to a show tomorrow but I don't have a problem. I can quit anytime I want...

Yeah, I don't buy them because I HAVE TO or NEED TO, it's just because I LIKE to buy guns.

I think I drag myself back in. 3 this month so far and it ain't over yet with a gun show, at our gun club, tomarrow. It started out quite innocently with a pre 64 Model 70 Winchester, in 220 Swift. It don't take much to set the hook with me on these anyways, if there in original condition. But this one included a mounted 15x Lyman Super Targetspot Scope. There's was no holding me back on this one.
Then out of left field came a nickel steel barrel M12 in 16 ga. I needed one of them with the 26" barrel to sit alongside my 20 ga. Like I don't have a 16 ga M12 already. This one was all original, in super condition, and the ol'boy had since the 30's. It'll be here anyday now.
Day before yesterday, I spot this, made in 1910, I frame, S&W HE in 32 SW long with near perfect factory original target stocks. It'll show up next week some time.
Well, there you have it. . . But tomarrow I'm going to the gun show, only to look for reloading dies in 220 Swift and 32 SW long. And maybe some ammo. . .

I'm usually the designated driver when my father goes to a gun show, most of the time I'm not even looking for anything (you believe this right???) so at one show I'm just following him to make sure he stays on his feet and there it is, a left hand version of a 1911. Okay, I wasn't looking but it got sent to my FFL dealer soon after that.
It's not my fault. (especially when it's priced to low)

I took the pledge on 12/31/2009..transferred a clean 15-3 on that date..That's it..I am commited...Going for a test run in March (400 table show)...I know I can do it...This is my 3rd year running to swear off,but this time it's different..To test my resolve, I'm carrying $500 in cash with me..it will never see daylight at the show...Some people have no will-power.
Piece of cake,

Well that depends on the model # The VII did not interchange like the XIX does.
Still, for $500, it is a very good buy. Remember to shoot only jacketed bullets.

I also have sworn off gun buying, but while in the gun store looking for primers I ran across a nice 686-2 for ONLY $325.00, guess I will start my no gun buying diet next month.

In life deals come by once in a lifetime maybe a slim chance of twice.
We need to know the difference between a deal or no deal. The difference between a deal and a steal.
Your deal was at $750(there $1,000) the steal was at $500. Your sitting on a $1,000 / $1,200 gun easy. Good steal.
But the more we educate our selves price wise the better. Too bad you couldn't steal the three Smith's too to roll them over.
Just like seeing the new S&W n frames for $599/$699 in nickel I got weak in the knees. I was looking for another 1911. Out came the plastic. I knew there $1,100.
I predict right after the holidays it will shift to being a buyer's market on all new goods. The best sales, deals, clearances and steals are yet to come. Choose your deals wisely. I been debating about a new mustang.

Funny thing, I don't think I ever went to a brothel to play checkers.
Or just to look.

Anytime I see a post start off with those words I know how it ends.
You might as well start off like this.. "this is the true story of a magnificent ship, the Titanic".

To "Lostintheozone": sure I have a credit card....I just paid the
sucker off! If I came across a Registered Magnum that is priced
right, I would consider using it.

I'd be a Desert Eagle owner at that price too. I've given up buying new guns too and mostly do trades now. I did buy two new 1911s this year so guess I'm not doing so good either.
I stay away from LGS and shows pretty much now though mainly because I don't find much I want to buy anymore. My wants are fewer now and may have to go online to find those I still want.
I had a coworker wanting to sell me his Desert Eagle in .357 Sig for $350.00 a few years ago. I was all over it but he backed out on the deal.
