Budget custom gun
I decided it has been a long time since I had a rifle or handgun that was "unique" among its peers. With my budget not being what it was, I decided that since my little H & R .22 Hornet shoots as well as it does, that would be a perfect little gun to play around with and make it into a little custom gun. I ordered a bi-pod last week for it, and tomorrow I hope to start free floating the barrel. I also decided to give it a bit of a flair. Some may like it, others hate it, but this way you know the caliber. I did a pattern of a hornet on the side of the stock, burned it in with a woodburner and then colored it in black. Then I stained over the top of the design to seal it all in. It is certainly an eye catcher. Here are some pics of what it was like when I first got it, and here it is today. I will take more when the bi-pod arrives.

That's excellent! Have you considered doing that as a side-line?
That looks like a winner, would sell like hotcakes.

That's cool! I assume it was done with a woodburner? I reread your post and answered my own question. I like it!

Nice personalized rifle. I started a project like that with a Swede 96 a few years ago. I thought it was complete back then, but it is still evolving.
I also think that it's a blast to do something like this and I like your work.
It doesn't take a lot of bucks to have an accurate, fun rifle.

I really like that. Everyone should have a personalized rifle and yours is very, very nice. I see that you added sling swivels. Nice touch.

I came up with an idea for a M1A stock and was fortunate to find an artist that would paint it for me.
I always figured the best camo was made by mother nature so I had him do a stock for winter use in a snow leopard pattern.
