They lost a fire truck yesterday. Crew responded to a multi-vehicle accident and the driver left the truck parked on the tracks. When the Amtrak train came by there was a duel. The train continued after a bit, scratch one ladder truck, about $600,000. Just what Motown needs!

Presume no one dead as a result but that's one of the dumbest things I have ever seen done. Really, really dumb.

Be safe.

Years ago at lockheed we had a C-5 in for modifcations. Finaly it was done and ready to go. It got a electrical fire while taxing for take off. The crew evacuated but didnt set the brakes. Our fire truck pulled up in front. The plane rolled and tipped over the truck. That was close to 30 years ago. That plane still sits on the field and is used for fire drills!

I may be wrong but I believe a Detroit Firetruck was lost a year or two ago when it flipped on it's side during an Emergency run.

Where's Chad when you need him?

I think there's some IQ test you have to fail in order to work for the City of Detroit.

About 10 years ago, my Dept responded to a mutual aid call to the neighboring City. Upon arrival, we found one of their aerials laying on it's side with the tip of the aerial ladder resting on the attic floor of a fully involved house fire. The driver of the rig forgot to put down the outriggers on the side facing the building. OOPS!
