Will it do any good in that Communist Cesspool of New York?

I feel so sorry for the gun owners who live in that state.

Move to Texas if you like Freedom, Liberty and Gun Rights, as our AG says.

Well speaking of our lovely nieces, I am proud to say mine applied for her MA LTC A "License to Carry/Permit" last month and is waiting for its arrival. Uncle labworm will be bringing her to the LGS and say, "Which one would you like" I'm so easy

I've seen where the new law doesn't feature any exemptions for LEO. This means that there will be some changes coming to this new law and IMO Firearm owners in New York need to become VERY involved in these changes.

Suggestion one is to mandate that 7 round limit only applies to rifle calibers larger than 50 caliber, all other calibers are exempted from the 7 round limit. In fact I would suggest that this be used as an opportunity to revise the magazine limit on calibers of 50 or less to 30 rounds.

Suggestion two is that background check for ammo ONLY applies to the personal bodyguard details for the Governor and the Mayor of New York City, everyone else is exempted from this requirement.

Basically, this is a bill that was rushed through so quickly that a lot of mistakes were made and it's presently completely unworkable. In fact, part of the language is so poorly written that it bans handguns from both the general public and Law Enforcement, so changes will be coming. Firearms owners in New York really need to use this as an opportunity to get some well reasoned changes implemented. BTW, since it's already been signed off on by the Governor I wonder if those coming changes might not be immune to his vetoing the changes. If so, it would be a darned good time to make New York a Shall Issue state, add in statewide Pre-Emption, toss out magazine capacity limits below 30 rounds, and thumb firearms owners noses at the Governor while giving him a good rich Bronx cheer.

Unhappy

Given the erosion of freedoms in NY , I'm suprised they weren't all rounded up , strip searched , had their home searched and firearms seized.

I commend those who marched on Albany yesterday. Sip, your niece and all are patriots in every sense of the word.

They estimate 1,000,000 "assault weapons" are LEGALLY owned in NY.

Perhaps NY needs a "Million Ban March" on Albany to show solidarity for the "black gun". Carry condition is at the owner's discretion (in accordance all current NY laws).

It would provide the perfect venue for the progressive legislators of NY to explain it's merits directly to those who are most affected by it passage. You know with; charts, graphs, studies, historical data and documents. Maybe some expert witnesses with analysis that support the rationale of the law.

Maybe they could hold a symposium on how their law conforms the the US Constitution and that pesky Bill of Rights that gun lovers constantly refer to. Or a clinic on the justification for disregarding NYS law in the way they rammed it through the congress under the cloak of darkness without any formal debate or mandated time for review and comment.

Just a thought.
