Had about fifteen minutes to spare this morning, so I stopped at
an old gravel pit, on state land, and set up a target
All I had with me was a pre Model 30, 32 S&W Long, and a Model 63
no-dash 4". The 63 was predictably accurate. However, at 25', I tried the pre-30 with wadcutters, and got surprising results. SA, right hand & eye, 5" group high and right; SA left hand & left eye, 5" group, low and
right. Since I've been shooting my 642, I've been doing a lot of DA
practice, so I tried that. Got a 2" group high and close to center line!
After the first two groips (patterns), I hadn't expected anything good
to happen, but there it was. Don't quite understand the results, with
the excellent SA trigger, as opposed to the relatively heavy pull
in DA, but it could be because of the tight grip and the staging
that happens just before the trigger breaks.
Any comments? At least I didn't throw my shoulder out with
the recoil and patting myself on the back. For me, that was good
shooting.
