******* files- little bitty ones, Need source
I know this is probably a bit off subject here but I need some help.
I use files to make grooves and such in my powder horns and am looking for SMALL ******* files and can't find a source. I am looking for 1/16" and 1/8" diameter files. All that I can find in that size are fine files, which are not agressive enough to cut horn well. I have an 8" long ******* that has a 3/16" diameter but it is too wide for the work I want to do. I need a ******* grade file and not the more agressive roughing file. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Stonecove

Try Stewart-MacDonald,They specialize in the musical repair trade and have small files and saws.Maybe you can find something there that will work.Plus they sell engraving supplys that might catch your eye.

I ment to say inlaying not engraving.

Stonecove,
Two places that come to mind are Enco at Enco - Guaranteed Lowest Prices on Machinery, Tools and Shop Supplies and Mcmaster carr at McMaster-Carr.
I know they both carry the 1/8 inch round in ******* cut and are around six dollars each.
Two other places to try are Utopia Tools and Widget Supply. They have some small files in coarse. They can be found on the web by google search.

Try MSC (old Manhatten Supply Co) in New York look online ?
Kromhard Twist Drill Co 1097 Sweitzer Ave Akron OH
330-535-7129 These people have more off the wall stuff concerning tooling that most people wouldn't even think of handling. They used to have an old-old lady who could tell where everything in a 3 story building was. every nook and cranny, amazing.

If you haven't joined Traditional Muzzleloading Forum Flintlock Musket Reenactor already...it would be worth your checking into. There is a members only section on Craftsmen that has several nationally known horn builders ~ that contribute regularly....they may be a good source for this kind of information.
