New gun (sorta)
Went to the gun show today and brought home a '200 shot Daisy OFFICIAL Red Ryder saddle ring carbine.' Yessir, got Red Ryders signature right there on the stock! The wood is rough, and will be a nice project. Suprisingly the metal & plastic are in exl. cond. Although I had a Daisy as a kid. It was not the coveted 'Red Ryder' model.
I'll try not to "shoot my eye out."

I was very concerned about your eye. I am glad you are prepared.
I had a number of BB guns when I was a kid and wish I had a couple of them back. Rest assured if I ever came across one of them, or one just like them, I would make the purchase quickly.
Just make sure this classic does not end up on the wall. Sounds like a shooter to me!

I like to take my Red Rider to lakeside campsites, for wasp and dragonfly suppression...

I got a Red Ryder Carbine for Christmas this year.
Been wanting one for 60 years.
Son and family got me a "BB" trap and a bottle of BB's. I've been shooting in the basement all winter.
I'm gonna pester the squirrels with it this summer. It ain't got enough oomph to do them any damage, but it will get their attention.
It ain't terribly accurate, but it's better than a sling shot and rocks.

Ain't nostalgia a wonderful thing?
Trouble is, I can't do anything new much, and have trouble remembering the old stuff.
Wonder what is causing that?

Had a squirrel chew through my mothers kitchen screen 3 or 4 times. It got into the basement. I went on safari with a Red Ryder. Found him hanging on the wall behind a clothes rack. Took aim at his head from about four feet. First shot just kind of brought out the angry chatter. I could see a small bloody spot behind his ear. Second shot got him moving up the stairs and out the door. Don't know what a Red Ryder would do for an elephant but it just annoys squirrels.

Well, then there's three of us. I used it the other day to scare off the grackles that were running off all the pretty birds from the feeder.

Peter Capstick did one of the best articles using a air rifle, do not think it was a Daisy but I will always remember the tenor and writing skills he had in that article. I wish I could recall it completely, it was a gem.

Somehow, my nephew got one, too. No one seems to know where that particular package came from, especially his parents. Huh. Musta been Santa Clause.

My nearest harbor freight is about 30 miles away in an area that doesn't allow stores to sell BB guns or sling shots... I guess they're worried about kids vandalizing the city...
... Scranton PA has much more to worry about than that IMO.
