With my new Ruger SP101 2.25". I put a box of Win. 125 38+p through it and it seemed that all my shots went to the direct left or upper left, both single and double action. Not sure if its me or the sighting on the gun. I want to assume its me since Im a beginner.

Any and all help is welcome! I really want to enjoy this, but I was definitely getting frusturated.

SP's are supposedly sighted in for 158 grainers and tend to shoot a bit low with 125s...but since you are high and low left, you are definitely pushing the gun to the left...try benching the gun single action first to see where they are going.....

Like the man said - Shoot it from the bench, single action (cock it first) with non +P 158 grain bullets and see what's going on. Keep your eye's focus on the gun's FRONT SITE. You want to keep the FRONT SITE aligned with the rear site even after the round goes off... You most likely won't be able to, but TRY (also known as Follow Through).

Ah, you guys are great! Good info and links... Ill have to take some time to finish reading and get more practice! My next range session Ill do the bench and try some 158s.

BTW, here is my Gemini Custom...best decision I ever made was to put that fiber optic on the front...really makes shooting it more fun...

Does anyone make that optic sight for a 629? My gold dot is hard to see this year{turning 50}.

you are probably pushing the gun to the left with your trigger finger and you are probably pushing the gun away from you in anticipation of recoil.
both can be addressed on a budget by training with a pellet or airsoft gun.
I tend to prefer airsoft for training since they have greatly reduced chance for collateral damage and tend to be more accurate renditions of the real firearm

I have the same gun...does not seem as accurate as my S&W 66 4" but I'm still working on it...I'm sure its me! The difference in trigger pull is my issue.

Now that pushing is mentioned, Id like to bring up a point where I agree 110%. I wasnt keeping count of how many rounds fired and sometimes I would try and fire a 6th shot and when it didnt go boom I noticed I was "pushing" the gun forward.

sipowicz, that Ruger is nice! I looked into having that work done, but Im still debating if I should by another 22lr or complete that package. I really like it!

you look like you have two problems though .. the full hand push is an easy one to spot. trigger finger position and method is a little harder till your made aware of it.
seriously, get an airsoft gun to help you work this out.
Squeeze the trigger slow and easy like your father told you to and watch the front sight drift left as you do. I bet it does.
try slipping a little more finger over the trigger and see what happens.
once you've minimized the drift, work on how you squeeze the trigger to eliminate the drift.
then get to the gun range and strut.
