REPORT FROM TODAYS GUNSHOW IN LUCERNE (PICS)
Swisswife and her husband went to Lucerne today, where the traditional gunshow takes places for this weekend. The quality of the guns and products is very high.
The organisation and the location leaves nothing to complain. I've took some pictures with the mobilephone-camera. So please excuse the poor quality.
Lucerne, the very old city in the heart of Switzerland. With houses which are much older than the USA.
The lake and the historic city attracts the tourist the whole year. The famous Picasso-exhibition in the Rosengart-gallery is another magnet for visitors.
But the "Europe in two weeks"-tourist got also the right shops.
And Lucerne got the Allmend - exhibitionhall....
.....where the Lucerne Collectors-Show is located for this weekend.
Like I wrote first, the quality of the gun is firstclass. Also some very rare guns were presented.
One guy sold swissmade food from Graubuenden. Airdryed meat, sausages, cheese, nutcake, etc.
OK, some rubbish was also there...
...and some splendid old stuff too like this...
...or like this Swiss-Army Vetterli rimfire ammo.
SIG-ARMS presented the new to me 1911-clone and the well known .223/5.56mm assaultrifles in different colors.
On the same boot they presented this .50 Browning rifle. Also a new name to me.
What I bought you ask? A replacing part for a K31-rifle, two grease-cans filled with the Swiss-Army automatic-gun-grease and a
Swiss-Army-Instruction-Booklet for the .30 Luger Parabellum (Pist. 06/29) and the .9 mm Luger SIG 210 (Pist. 49) from 1962.
Thank you for looking at this poor pics.
The next show will be March 25. - March 27. 2011 www.sammlerbörse.ch

Looks like a good gun show. A little different than ours, you don't see all those plastic guns we have. Don

OK, you've got me drooling on my keyboard over all those SIG 210's. And the food vendor? Sure looks a lot tastier than the beef jerky that's all we seem to get.

That show is lovely and very professional.
I believe that if you ever were to attend some American gun shows you might be terribly disappointed. Considering there are hundreds of shows all across the nation every weekend and a deal or two can be had every now and then, the likelihood of seeing that kind of quality at any but a handful of shows a year throughout our nation is highly unlikely.
Of course, deals and rare things are found at American shows...but you have to look very hard.
Our shows look nothing like that.
I wish our shows had food like that more than anything! *delicious!* Food at shows here ranges from tolerable at best to detestable and horrible at worst!
I wonder, do they let anyone into the show, or only Swiss citizens?
Maybe I need a vacation to Swissman's land during the show next year.

I'd say the pictures were first rate, as is the gun show.

I am intrigued by the very first photo you show of Lucerne. I took an identical picture in 2004, except in mine the side of the bridge is completely covered with beautiful pink flowers. Mine was taken a couple of months later in the year, however.

swissman, nice pics of the show. i have a friend there this weekend for this show. he is a european handgun guy primarily and i looked for him in your great pics. i was invited this time but was unable. if you want to see a quality american show, the winter las vegas collectors show is for you. the best available is there. even the purdey and holland companies from england show there. i think you would enjoy it and there is plenty of other distractions also. for the wife too. if you ever decide to go to the winter vegas show, pm me ahead of time. always nice to meet and s&w person.

Looks like a great gun show. Lucerne looks to have changed since I was there in 1962. I understand the bridge was burned and rebuilt. I recall staying in a hotel not to far from the bridge, just inside the new part, before crossing over to the old part. I loved the Old Part of the city where no vehicles were allowed.
I hope someday to return. The boat trip on the lake was beautiful. The sound of gunfire echoing through the hills across the lake was intriguing. There was a very unique old hotel, hotel Undergrund (? spelling), in the old part with bar that I doubt had changed in 200 years.

Those were GREAT pics, Swissman. Thanks for sharing - wish we had some gun shows like that in the U.S. I think I've only seen one Sig 210 in my lifetime, and one of your pictures showed a basketful!
Excellent. Just Excellent!

The average gun we see at a gun show here would wind up on the junk table at that show.
Thanks for the pictures.

Some answers
Perrazi, if your friend returns from Europe, ask him if he spent some time by this boot. Sitting on a chair, in the left corner of the boot. (Red cross)
This are very friendly dealers. Here the two "hall-maps"
Out West, no cameras allowed here too and the reason is clear. But its better to ask for forgiveness than for permission. I respect the privacy of
the visitors and exhibitors and "blurred" all faces.
opofec, the price is Swiss francs 2950.--. I didn't ask why this gun should cost so much. I bought mine for Swiss francs 180.-- (OK, without the box)
Andy Griffith, no restrictions for visitors. But hard restrictions on some nationalities for gun-buying and gun-posession.

Hi Swissman,
you have forgotten to take some pictures of the engraved Mod 29 and the other nice S&W at "booth 485 collectors firearms" operated by Kurt K.
Kurt K. was the most important S&W collector in Swiss country until he lost most of his collection by a flood some years ago.
Regards

I spent a couple of days in Switzerland when I was a young guy back in the 1960's. I would like to see your country again. That gun show looks very clean and well organized. Thanks for the nice pictures.

Great pics Swissman! It's always interesting to see gunshows in other countries. But what I loved most about your pics was the beautiful scenery and especially the architecture! Thank you so much for sharing!

regmag-621, I talked with Mr. K, and got some email-contact before this saturday. Yes, that accident with the flood was a desaster for the guncollectorworld in Switzerland.
He presented very highquality S&W-revolvers and some other great guns. I'm not into the engraved guns, so I let the cellphone in the pocket.

Just an observation
Not sure if anyone pointed this out to you, but all of the people in your photos must be related because they all look like each other.

Swissman,
A few years ago, I stayed in a hotel about two blocks from your first photo. Lucerne is a beautiful place, especially the lake.
Thanks for the report.

Swissman,
Thank you for sharing. The photos were fine. Really appreciate the Luger's. It is one of my "grail" guns.
Hope you had a good time. Take care sir.
