Anybody else deal with stress like this??
Anybody else deal with stress like this?
I've had an interesting month, and finally got an evening off. Went
to a friends' place, and asked if I could shoot a few rounds. He asked if I wanted to use his range or just shoot impromptu. Said I didn't care, so we set a target up in front of a tree he wanted down. Shot 45 ACP, 32 S&W, & 32 S&W Long.
Would you believe what we ended up with?
I feel better now.

Sounds like a good time
But for me after being self employed for almost 25 years, I've found stress to be a daily companion. The only way I can relieve it is to solve whatever problem is stressing me out. Then I can shoot better.

shooting is a great relief. when i dealt in class 3 guns, i would go out and shoot a few mags through one of the guns and always felt realieved afterward. junk cars were the best targets. and if they weren't junk before they were when i was done.

What a great way to celebrate the week of Earth Day!! A few years back I got a 4506-1. Took it out on Earth Day and shot the heck out of a old dead tree. My the end of the summer I had cut down that old tree with .45ACP!!!

There may have been a little "stretching-of-the-truth" here;
but I did feel much better after a range session!!
I provided the guns and ammo, and refreshments for after.
You will notice that there are no pictures of the targets we used.
Too many days w/o slack isn't conducive to a good sight picture.
Afterwards, I did consider affixing a "hug", but couldn't get
close enough with all the debris!
Hey, it worked for us! Any better ideas will gladly be tried!

yup. Shooting can be a stress reliever if your shooting a gun that does what it's supposed to do. That's why I own S&W's.

I went to my first machine gun shoot last year. I found that a .50 caliber M2 Browning machine gun is ideal for the purpose. My wife preferred the Thompson. We're going back this year but taking more money this time.

Full auto - the most fun you can have with your clothes on. You've got to shoot the S&W 76 at least once.
I used to shoot/hunt mice in the barn with shot shells. -Ed.

I often shoot for stress relief. Either that or chase women. Shooting is easier and cheaper. At my age, shooting is less trouble.

Shooting full autos generally leaves one with, "The 30 round grin."
Shooting anything, from air guns to blackpowder cannon, is good for pushing stressful stuff to the back of the mind.
I need to go to the range this week.

I take my frustrations out on clay targets, but will admit, the dolls and pins thing may have some merit - if politicians are the source of the stress. Haven't resorted to that yet, though.
I think aimed fired (when you're no better at it than I am) can be a stressor itself, so the thrill of obliviously blasting away at clays and watching them break, particularly on a windy day when the pieces just go everywhere, is what does it for me.

Last year I had a pack rat problem. They chewed the plug wires off of my 280Z. I don't like to poison them as they tend to die in bad places. I noticed that at night they would come out and grab any dog food that was left over, so my son and I dragged out his 2 old BB guns, set up a table to shoot off of and had a blast. Great way to relax and solve a problem.

Aloha,
Wish we had the room for your kind of stress relief.
The Only civilian range on the island is 23 miles away, One Way.
Plus it is open only a short time during the week and on week ends.
It has a 5 round limitation(there are exceptions), no rapid fire, etc.
Worse yet, I live just outside of the Marine base and can hear bugle calls and gunfire when the wind is right......
Yes, I've thought of moveing, but, the Wife can't until she retires and it's hard to leave a place where there's no snow, snakes(except for polititians), killer bees/ants ets.

Lots of fun! No better way to make mulch.
My brother and I spent countless hours building a range up in our woods. It's pretty darn nice if I may say so myself, but sometimes I don't feel like making the trek. Even if I drive up as far as I can there's still short walk.. sometimes I don't have the time / ambition.
Because of this, I recently set up my "lazy range" behind my house. It's just a 30 yard cleared out section with a log as a backstop. I just had trees cleared about 1 1/2 years ago so I have some big healthy logs from which to choose. I've gone through two logs the size of that stump already. They hold up well for a while, but once they start to crumble they really start to go.
You should see all the lead that comes out.

That is going to be one heavy tree when it comes time to dig it out.
I want to know if full auto qualifies as 'Stress therapy' under my health insurance? Very satisfying when you know the last case is in the air before the first one hits the ground.

Tannerite is FUN!!! Especially when packed into the back end of clay pigeons. They may not fly as far or as fast as they normally do but the effect is WELL worth every penny spent. The best "Tree" shot I ever made was about 25 years ago. We went out to a friends grandfathers farm. Grandfather saw an old couch in the dump down the road from his house with about 1000 acres of softwood pine as a backstop. We set a bunch of cans on the area were the seat cushions would have been and proceeded to shoot them. On about my fourth or fifth shot a pine of about 4 to 5 inches that was behind the couch fell over. The only thing we could think that happened was that the bullet from the 30-30 hit a spring inside the couch and streached out wide enough to cut the tree down in one shot.
