Partial Justice
Last Thursday Texas executed William Berkley for the murder of Sophia Martinez. She was a high school senior who wanted to become a history teacher. He staked out a drive-in ATM; when she drove up he shot her in the face to get her attention. Then he forced her to withdraw all the money she could, about $300, drove her out in the desert, raped her and shot her four times in the head. He richly deserved his fate. However there are a number of unindicted co-conspirators. She was 18 years old; old enough to have a driver's license and own a car; old enough to have a bank account and use an ATM machine. However our elected poo-bahs in Washington, in their infinite wisdom, denied her a handgun until she was 21. Thus she was helpless against her assailant. And so she died, only one of the many killed by our insane gun laws that favor the aggressor and harm the victim.

The federal government is doing its best to make this country safe for criminals.

I am truly sorry for the death of Ms Martinez. May she rest in peace.
However, just what information does the OP have that she would have been armed, if permitted, and how that would have prevented her murder?
Fact is, some folks have no inclination to carry a firearm. That is a given. To insinuate personal views as more worthy than any individual's lawful choices is wrong. Period.
Be safe.

With the firearm comes the training.
With the training comes awareness.
With awareness comes avoidance/engagement on her own terms.
To answer your question with a question...
By shooting him perhaps?
God made man, Sam Colt made them equal.

I agree that training would be a plus when any legal owner can carry concealed, but it is not required

The Federal government set the age of 21to purchase a handgun from a licensed dealer. Most states set their own age for possession and often it's 18. What this lady needed was a father to be responsible for her, teach her to shoot and supply her with an appropriate means of defense.

I agree with your statement. My main question is, though, what if she (or anyone) makes the personal choice NOT to be armed?
Among my friends and associates there are no more than approximately 5% who have any desire whatsover to carry a gun.
That's my point.
Be safe.
