Question Spare ammo & hot weather.

I'm going on a little trip this weekend and the temp will be around 80.

It's hard enough to conceal a small semi-auto in shorts and a tee shirt.

Do you carry a spare mag with you? All the time?

GF

I carry a 642, but there's always a speed strip in my pocket. When I was carrying the .380, there was always a spare mag in my pocket. Obviously it depends on what you carry, but a speed strip of .38 or a single-stack of .380 isn't much bigger than a Zippo or Bic lighter.

+1, but make that 2 or 3 speed strips. But when I do carry a compact 9mm or other semi-auto handgun, I always bring a spare mag with. Although more times than not, in hot weather, I just put it in a pocket holster and throw it in a cargo pocket (versus wearing it on my belt).

At least one spare mag for any auto --- a simple reload cures most FTF problems, &tc., not to mention the obvious benefit of extra ammo at hand. For wheelguns, speed strips, in SOB pouches.

Always...always...always...carry a spare reload. You may never need it, but if you do and don't have it...good luck.

I'm planning on my LCP being my hot weather gun this year. I even made an ultra thin outside the waistband / underneath the belt holster which is very comfortable and concealable.

I may or may not take and extra mag, but if I do they're small enough to carry comfortably.

I solve this issue by never wearing shorts and a tee shirt.
If you see me, even in 100 degree weather, its pants and an over shirt.
While others are trying to figure out the LCP, LCR, J frame issue... I have a full size 1911 and spare mags.
And generally am sweating less than they do.

Sure, in Albuquerque you can get away with that.. it's a dry heat!

The average afternoon relative humidity there in June, July, and August is 18%, 27%, and 31%... you practically NEED to wear long clothing to stay hydrated.

LOL... I work nationwide, texas, NM, AZ, the southeast US...
I dress for carry. Carry is a choice, I just choose to make it a full part of my life.

Ha. 80* ,brother ,are you kidding?
Spring has sprung ,and summer's here. Down here in the gunshine state
I always wear a belt ,with a jit ,or slide holster of some type,
and a compact 45. It holds 11 rounds so i'm not concerned about a reload.
I wear my t shirt out ,over the belt and pants.
But, that's just my solution. Hope this helps.
