Default One Gold, One Silver SW Medallion

Have a set of J frame grips(stocks) one medallion is gold the other silver?. I thought I remembered a post on this but can not find it (yes I searched, Honest)

Why is this?

So is there a way to remove the gold so it matches the silver?

No Sip, I am not spray painting.

Thanks

You can polish away the silver coating down to the gold color, unless they are some of the plastic medallions. I've got some that the finish has worn thin over time...brassy gold is how they appear.

Oh, it's the other way around then? They change from silver to gold?

So if I "attack"the silver one it will begin to match the goldish one, or at least be closer?

Just use Flitz or do I need something more abrasive.

Do they have metal washers? If so, heat from a soldering iron will cause them to change color.

I installed a set on some hand made grips. The posts had been ground off flush with the washers when they were removed, and were too short to peen over. I soldered the posts to the washers and when I was done, my pretty silver medalions had both turned gold.
