What a comparison
For those that have never read the " Society of Professional Journalists
Code of Ethics" it would be worth your trouble to do so. Compare what the news would be if the Code was followed to what we see, hear and read each day. It is disgusting.
To read it, just Google "Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics".

I was a "J" School graduate forty years ago... but I went into the Marine Corps and then into business.
I can't recognize what I was taught and what I see now.
Disgusting is too mild a word.

If many of what pass for "journalists" by today's minimal standards had ever even cracked open the Associated Press style manual, we might be spared references to "bullets" (for cartridges), "bullet casings" (for cartridge casings), "assault rifles", and similar ignorant uses of nomenclature. But, I'm not holding my breath that any of the so-called "professional" organizations of "journalists" have any intention on holding their members to any reasonable journalistic standards. They're whores and lazy and ignorant and biased and should be afforded the contempt they deserve.

One thing in defense of the "news" industry: With the advent of the 24/7 news channels, they have added opinion shows to the mix. When you watch Olberman, Beck, O'Reilly, Maddow, etc., you are getting their OPINION, not necessarily the news. However, when I hear Couric, Williams, etc. telling only one side of the story, or giving what I consider to be their opinion, it makes me fume. They hold a position of trust in society, and most folks have no idea how badly they have trashed that position.

Any time I am unfortunate to hear ANYTHING said by any of the talking heads on the AntiAmerican Broadcast Company, Nationalist BS Company , C(ommie)Brosdcast System, MSNBC or any of ther other propaganda driven stations I always assume the opposite is true and go from there.
Most if not all of these fools are nothing more than dupes and stooges of the illegal alien currently occupying the oval office and have swallowed the whole koolaid package hook, line and sinker.

"how do the words journalist and ethics get used in the same sentence anyway"
Only when used with violation.
The reporting on Arizona's recently passed anti-illegal immigration legislation has been scandalously inept, inaccurate, untrue, and editorially biased in favor of illegal immigrants. It appears that almost no one in the MSM has bothered to actually read the bill, but most are nonetheless quite willing to spew drivel about its "racial profiling" effects, &tc., ad nauseum. If ever there was an exemplar of brain-dead regurgitation of special-interests' hyperbole, reports on this legislation probably take the cake.

"Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics".
Not much different from our elected politicians that swear to "uphold and defend the Constitution".
