Paint Gun Dueling Pistols. Do They Exist?
I've been reading about American duels lately. Wouldn't it be fun to have a pair of dueling paintball pistols. Pistols that looked like flint or pecussion duelers. It would still cause a little tension facing down someone with one of these aiming at you from 10 or 12 paces. Seriously, wouldn't it be fun having freinds over having duels in the back yard? With pre planned kill or wound zones. OK. So I never really grew up. But you know it would be a blast even if you won't admit it!

Why not just get yourself a pair of smoothbore .69 caliber flint or cap locks and figure a squib load that will keep the paintball at around 200-250 fps or les.?? (That way you will get the flash, smoke and sound. )

Back in the 1890s or so, they used to do this with wax bullets. There were face shields similar to fencing masks in regular use. Some used long, slightly padded coats too. Or so I'm told....
I've fired wax bullets at 20 feet into boxes of newspaper, I'm not volunteering as a demonstration subject.

I should have thought of that. Yesterday I was digging out some .270 boattails to give a freind and found my dad's old wax bullet loading kit from his fast draw days. I wouldn't want to get hit with those either. That .69 smoothbore idea sounds intesting!

I think you might be on to something. I'd try it.

The duel between Benjamin Moore and Sherman Williams was quite bloody...I think they called it apple crimson.

I played around with loading .40 cal. paintballs in a model 610 using only a primer and no powder. I found they vary quite a bit in how hard they are to break open. I was using a board for a target hoping it would be hard enough to burst every one of them, but it didn't. Some splattered real nice, others broke on firing and painted the bore and others bounced off the board, ricocheted all over the basement and never broke at all.
I wouldn't want to stand in front of them either.

My son was in a church paintball outing and showed me his welts and bruises a week later. Suffice it to say I won't be doing that. He had bruises 8" in diameter on his thigh.

If you've been in a LE Agency with modern traing, you've probably trained with Simunitions. That's about as close to
the real thing you can do, usless you're doing it with using live ammo whcih I don't recommend. The worst hit I've ever taken is when I was wearing tennis shoes and the idiot I had proned out shot me in the big toe, but I got revenge when I shot him in his, protect only by levis only, Gluteus Maximus. I knew we all have vest on and I didn't want to shoot him in the back of the head, so I fired five round into his GM, ie. his posterior. We took pictures of the big black and blue whelps the next day.
