Black Magic is what I used on my Grand Cherokee. It would last about a week 'til I washed it off.

How well has the plastic lasted?I'll probably get rid of the bumpers eventually. She wants the tube bumpers.

Nice ride.
Check out a marine supplier for what they use on canvas tops with plastic windows. Those tops seem to last. The windows seem to remain clear for a long time and they get tons of sun too.
They must have cleaner/conditioners that block UV and prevent drying out.

Congrats Mrs. Grip! Don't move to TN just yet. Unless you want to trade that Jeep in for a boat!

There is a product called Forever Black that I use on my Jeep plastic. It dyes the plastic and makes it dark black again. One bottle will do your Jeep several times and it lasts a long time. I found it in Quadratec but found it on Amazon a lot cheaper.

D.G.: The fender treatment and the bumper treatment plastic will last forever........from a longtime Jeep user in the Nevada desert. The plastic 'window's will discolor if you don't keep them protected. When I had a soft top I used 'Lemon Pledge' (don't laugh it works!) to clean and protect. I learned that trick while flying light aircraft. .... Big Cholla

B.C.,I'll try the Pledge,it seems I've herd that one before.
As for the plastic fenders I see a lot of '06 and before are faded pretty bad.I aint saying the sun's stronger here but saying what I've observed on the road daily.
NA225,I hope that I can somehow prevent having to die them anytime soon.I'll keep "forever black" in mind tho.

I use Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner / Conditioner Wipes. Wipe the fenders ... flairs down with a good moist one. It'll look little streaky so follow up with a dry towel to even it out. I also use these on dash ... steering wheel ( wipe that down after applying too or it'll be too slick), console ... backs of the mirrors on the doors .. gaskets. Pretty much anything thats leather .. rubber .. or plastic. Bumpers too.
Untreated, the flairs or fenders will fade to a lilght gray in about 2 years. My Rubicon is a 2004 and it still looks almost new. For the inside .. steering wheel etc. I wipe it down in the evening when I know that I'm in for the night. That lets it penetrate longer and it won't feel slick or greasy. If it does just wipe it with a dry towel.
Don't use Armor-All. That will feel greasy, and just in my opinion doesn't work anywhere near as well as the Meguiars.
Congratulations on a great Jeep. I know you're gonna love it .... and do a Jamboree. They're fantastic.

I've tried Black Magic and Back to Black and several others and none of them last very long. I simply taped mine off and sprayed them with cheap black aerosol spray paint. It made them look brand new, and the cheap stuff is great for inside the fender wells, but next time I'll buy the more expensive automotive black Dupli-color paint that has a high grade "fan tip". That should make it look even better and be easier to use, without dripping.

On my first Jeep, the windows yellowed badly. I learned on the second one. I used ONLY warm soapy water on the window plastic, and gently wiped dry with a clean SOFT cloth. Never roll the windows up wet, and also NEVER leave them rolled up in the direct sun. Mine remained clear the seven years I had it.

I never did anything with the canvas except keep it clean. As for the plastic finder skirts, I used Lemon Pledge or Armor-all. I still use the Armor-all on my Gator and Polaris UTV's.

Nice Jeep, DG. I'm sure you both will love it!
Might as well start planning now for a trip to Moab next year for the Easter Jeep Safari! I missed this year. Next year for sure!

My kid's Jeep. I think he painted the fenders. I don't know how much he's invested in this thing.

I also use Meguiars products, including Back to Black on the trim on my Mustang. Granted, it doesn't last forever, but I apply it at each wax job and it always looks great.

JcMack, your sons jeep looks good.I see some of the four doors with steel fenders painted to match. Her jeep might be a little to much red if I went that route.
Misty,I gotta look into Meguiars products again,I used to get some stuff from my bodyshop supply that worked pretty good. They sold it by the gallon.Plus I can support Barry's show "Car Crazy"
