Thumbs up Flood update

As promised, here's an update to my flood damage situation. There's no major damage to the foundation. However, the gentleman believes there is a small area in the foundation, under the deck, that some of the water may have come through. It shouldn't be a major undertaking to fix. Take up some of the decking, patch or replace area in question, back fill around foundation, replace deck. Thanks to my forum family, this will be covered by all the donations you made. I will also be putting longer extensions on my downspouts, directing water further away from the foundation. All in all, I am blessed that I didn't lose more. I am also blessed to have such wonderful friends here, that helped in such an unbelieveable way, whether by monetary contribution or prayers and comforting thoughts. Thank you again!

Great News, Since this was a 1000 year flood you should be good for a while.

Who? Me? Worry? Barb, worry is my middle name. But at least this is one less!

D.G.- I won't get back my Mod 15. Not to say there will never be another one in my collection, but the one I sold is gone.

Misty, you need to follow my lead. I reserve Thurs afternoon's between 2 and 3 for worrying.

I go in the bathroom, look in the mirror and just WORRY myself into exhaustion.

After that, I'm care free, and good to go for the next week!!

Excellent news, Misty. Glad everything is either under control or getting there at reasonable speed.

Really happy that our Forum members came through for you.

I think that this Forum is pretty special and very pleasantly different because of the membership (and the Apeman has some small part in it, too).

Glad you are getting back to normal in your neck of the woods.

Bob

That's great news, except for the model 15.
Hopefully you will not have to sell any more.
Take care.

Thank you everyone. I did run across another area that contributed to the basement flood. Although I'm not quite sure anything could prevent at least some water in the basement when you get 15+ inches of rain in less than two days. Anyway, my deck is maybe 10" above the ground from the patio doors out to about 10'. It extends along the back and wraps around one side of the house. There is a downspout running through the deck on that corner of the house. I figured that it would elbow away from the house and the water would come out further out in the yard, beyond the deck. But, call it intuition, or just plain curiosity, yesterday I took a pry bar and lifted a short deck board next to the downspout. Well, it seems the previous owner wasn't too bright. There was no elbow on the end of the downspout, and the water from it just empied onto the ground next to the house. There was a decent size depression where the water had eroded away the dirt. Now I'm no expert, far from it. But even I know better than to do something like that. So today I will be heading to the store to get an elbow and extension. A cheap do-it-myself fix that I'm sure will help in the future.
As for my model 15, a deal is a deal. I can't/won't ask to buy it back. But I may be able to replace it, with either another 15 or something different. As I said, with any monies left, I will be donating some back to Lee and this wonderful forum. After that, I'll see where I stand.
