Default A new to me "cast" piece came home today!

I bet you were think'n I bought a off-brand scream'n buzzard gun didn't you?

Nah, I bought a cornbread muffin pan that makes cakes that look like ears of corn. It's a Griswold to boot!!! For $5.00, could I go wrong? It has a little rust in it, and no, it hasn't been used for casting lead ingots- might take me a day or so to get it cleaned and seasoned before making good bread. I have plenty of cast iron, but never had one of these.

Hopefully, I'll get a picture after the first cakes come out of the oven.
Mmmmmmm!!!

Cornmeal gravy and fried chicken!

I've a bunch of dead soft lead ears of corn laying around out in the shed waiting to become round ball.

Great find. White vinegar will take the rust off. Just don't leave it in there to long.

Grog, kid, of the early 80's. Just so you know some of us on here had worn out most things on planet earth in the 60's. I did not know there was anything left.

I don't know why but I am licking my chops at the moment. Nice grab on the cast iron, great price.

Man, I love cornbread from cast iron - especially if you grease it with bacon drippings instead of oil/butter.

My wife's been makin' my cornbread in one of those for 30 years now. The shape makes them just right crispy
Mmmmmmmm cornbread

She's a dynamite cook, btw, and primarily uses cast iron skillets and even some cast iron pots. I think they make things taste better - Thus making everything bad for me

My Mom had a cast iron one like that, I don't know what happened to it.I'll have to check with my sister and see if she has it.I have all kinds of cast iron cookware bold and new, can't beat it.My wife found a cast aluminum cornstick pan at a garage sale made by Mullins Casting of St. Louis that is pretty cool.

P.S.-My wife won't even think about cleaning up cast iron after a horrible soapy scrubbing incident about 30 yrs. ago.
