CMP qualifications ?
Ok, here's a stupid question. In order to be approved to buy firearms from the CMP, you have to show evidence of participating in shooting activities such as printed results of a match.
I was digging through some stuff, and found my old NRA Marksmanship certificates - the Marksman/Pro-Marksman/Marksman 1st Class/Sharpshooter stuff.
Would they accept the certificates? They're pretty old, which may affect it also.

I showed my current USPSA membership card, with current classification, my NRA classification for metallic sillywet, and my current NBRSA membership card. I think the the CMP wants you currently and actively participating in some sort of organized competitive shooting. After all, that is the whole purpose of the CMP. It is not hard to find a club that offers some short of organized competitive shooting anywhere in the U.S. They are all over the place.

I provided the following, and was approved on the spot - - My DD214
- My club rifle qualification card
- My passport showing U.S. citizenship (doesn't have to be current)
- My Michigan CPL (also shows active weapons training)
- My birth certificate
I'm sure the passport and birth certificate were probably redundant. Better to have too much, than not enough.
Voter registration cards and driver's licenses are not valid proof of anything.

Pay 25 bucks and join one of the affiliated clubs and you're good to go. I got in with a LEO associated organization. There are many more.

An Appleseed Shoot also qualifies as marksmanship activity.
Check locations at Appleseed Project Home.

You could join the Garand Collector's ***. if that interests you. Only $25.00 and a very nice journal.
Welcome!

Membership in an affiliated club is not enough to show participation in shooting activity. However, there is a form on the CMP site you can print and have a range or club officer fill out. Thats what I did.
North Store is about 45min from my driveway...
