Default Flashlights

Anybody else start out in LE before the Aluminum Flashlights came out. When I started all we had were the Everready Rayovac flashlights that would shoot the batteries out the end cap or out through the front end of the flashlight if you hit somebody hard enough with it.

Seemed like were were continually buying new flashlights.

I was thrilled with the Kel Lights and the Mag Lights came out.
Now they have the Phasers that they can turn to Stun.

The good ol' days.

1972..I started with the old 4 cell aluminum with the rubberbands
wrapped around the handle so you could grip it under your arm
to write tickets or reports.
Fast forward a couple years and the Kel-lites came out.
Second night out an assist the officer drops....homeboy has an officer
pinned to the ground wailing the mud outta him.

Big dude had an afro about the size of a garbage can lid.
I come across his knoggin..hard..he falls off the officer and
shakes his head and wants to know..
"Who took my MFin picture". ??
In short, he saw stars/flash but the fight resumed...Old Sarge hit the scene and had a sap/slapper and put him "right with the Lord".
Took six of us to get him cuffed.

You guys are lucky. When i started, I had to wear a candle on my head...not only was hard to light quickly, but it dripped wax in my eyes and would go out when I ran after bad guys in the dark.

I had a buddy who started when they were still carrying torches in the LA/Riverside Area. Back when Packmayr was a kid.
