Well Boys,
Here's what the ol' man was totin' & shootin' at the deal today...
Colt Gov't w/mammoth tooth britches
Note ejected brass in the air, 'bout level with the top of my hat,
For y'all that are interested, the holster is a thumb break of my design and built in the saddle shop here on the ranch.
The Colt started out as a stainless Gov't model that was engraved and black oxided.

While the 500 is probably fun to shoot, that 1911 steals the show! That is a seriously nice piece!

My kind of BBQ
Wow, that Colt is something. And to think, that you have a saddle shop on your ranch, that must be some spread....my saddle guy is lucky to replace conchos with his cordless drill, let alone tool anything more than basket stamps...I am officially jealous. Was your engraving local? I would love to have someone do a stainless commander for me with blacked out highlights.

SA,
Ah, you know how it is, to stay in business ya got to be able to fix anything and everything from fences to tractors,
doctor your own livestock and what knot.
The saddel shop came about when we were working with the pack mules,
those 'little darlings could tear-up a new anvil'
So, we kinda had to start doing our own packsaddle repair. One thing leads to another...
A few pics in the bucket,
Jeff Flannery of Union Ky did the chisel work.
And I'm tryin' my best to use 'em up!
Su Amigo,
Dave

I love that 1911 and the design on the holster is amazing, thanks for sharing! I also build holsters but I ride an iron horse these days, but I still miss growing up on a small farm.

That plunder is good enough for any BBQ and it might just get some serious stuff done too.
Nice equipment.

I like the Colt...
Dave,
I really like the leather on that Colt....wanna send it down my way so that I can make a template and produce one for myself?
You can send the Colt too...I promise that it will be kept warm and well lubricated while in my custody
[/IMG]http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/keith44spl/ColtSAA44SPL030.jpg[/IMG]
I know how that ranch life goes....I seem to be head butcher, baker, mechanic, fixer of flat tires, wrestler of wayward ranch hands....ect.....no mules though....we work our cattle with Polaris Rangers....my horses are certainly jealous
