Late last night I got home from my C-5 loadmaster training. A six week "refresher" for me pretty much. Before I was an ac-130 gunner I had trained to be a c-130 loadmaster so it was very similar. It was great to be back in uniform and back in the air!
It was strange being the "old guy". Most of the airmen I was with were recent BMT grads... There were two Senior Airmen who were cross training and then me. The younger guys liked to call me "Old Man River" (for some reason I never figured out) but I put them to shame during PT.
The class was a breeze though... it all came back so quick. Later in the month I'm heading off for some more training then I'm done for a month.
It's nice to be home though. My brother in law came over a few times to cut my yard, but I need to get to that. My front yard is in good shape but I told him not to worry much about my back yard.. it's shaded so it doesn't grow as fast and it has a lot of roots and rocks... so the back yard needs a good cutting. The grass is short but I have small trees growing... It's good though since I love to cut grass. I intentionally asked him not to cut the grass anymore last time I talked to him on the phone.
I'm not getting to that today though. On my first day off I'm going to take it easy... I've already been shooting this morning and the rest of the day I have no plans other than dinner with my girlfriend. I think I'll spend some time catching up on the S&W forum.... I have missed poking around here on my days off from work.
