My 1st accidental discharge!
Possibly some deadly consequences. I always drilled into the kids: "never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy, and never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to destroy it." I broke my own rule today. Just filled my garden sprayer with Roundup and pumped her up for maximum pressure when "SQUIRT!" went the nozzle. My fault. Next door neighbor will probably notice a brown stripe across his front lawn in the next day or two. Just hope I can learn from this mistake.

Well, upon reading your post, I am relieved to find that it will not be necessary to flag it as inappropriate for this family-friendly forum, as it isn't an account of an inadvertent adolescent event.

Last week a guy at our club did a similar thing, only he mixed tanks and instead of bug spray he hit all their berry bushes with round up. His son who had planned to sell the berries was not amused to say the least.

If you had an "internal lock" on the darn thing this A.D. would not have happened!

Just hope the gov't doesn't get involved. Remember when garden sprayers are outlawed, only outlaws will have garden sprayers.

Someone needs to chime in
"There are NO Accidental Discharges, only Negligent ones"

I have two AD's both trace to the guns, both 22LR's
AD 1 was a case of the buildup of scrunge in the trigger group of an old single shot rifle ...
as I closed the bolt the sear let the hammer fly.
round went downrange as all safety procedures were followed.
AD 2
Clearing a jennings J22
I checked the chamber and saw the gun was hot.
pointing then at the floor I let the slide forward where it slamfired. Not an ideal environment for such a thing to happen.
Exact cause is unknown. it could be an over sensitive old round or it could be mechanical

Jennings has a serious design flaw in their sear, sometimes letting the striker go for no apparent reason. They've even been known to empty the mag on their own when left with a round in the chamber.

I did that with a .22 magnum through an apartment wall. You're lucky -- learn from the experience.
BTW, it's not an "accidental" discharge. It's negligence.
I'll never forget the experience.

Most are ND's where a machine that works as advertised is involved in human error.
an AD is a machine not working as advertised.
The odd thing with the J22 issue was that I did eventually find the spent case .... not a mark on its rim. lacking that piece of the puzzle gun and ammo are equally suspect.
How does this happen twice?
the volume of rounds Ive put down range has been well past anyone's definition of obscene.
its just a probability thing
